You know, I've had mixed success with the pump-seal ziplocs. It seems that if you use them for freezer storage, they work quite well. I use them to vacuum seal fish, and have never had a seal break yet. But I stored a whole bunch of rice and beans in them, and many of the bags lost their seal over time. Maybe they're just for freezer storage, and I never checked? I just thought since they work so well for the freezer, they'd work for other stuff, so I got some and used them for dry storage.

Thanks for the review.  Mom uses them for freezer storage, so that's all I had to go on.

Yup. For freezer, I've had 100% success. But I've had the rice and beans stored for about a year and a half, and I'd say about 2/3 of the seals are no longer airtight. I started with 40 pounds of each (pinto beans and rice) portioned out into meal-for-5-sized bags, so going through and trying to reseal each is a PITA.

That may be the weekness between a regular seal and a heat seal.

Farm Manuals Fast

Finchum has manuals on the website for almost 500 farm implements, going all the way back to the manuals for John Deere’s Poppin’ Johnnies in the 1930s and 1940s.

He has manuals for tractors, combines, harvesters, manure spreaders, balers, tillers, cutters, foragers, grinders, mowers, and windrowers. The makers include some of the icons of American manufacturing (Deere, Massey Ferguson, Caterpillar) and a few from names now long gone—Allis-Chalmers, International Harvester.

Some merit to this post via ZeroHedge -

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/guest-post-most-often-forgotten-survival-preparations

The networking with neighbors deal can be a hard one.  Not all of our neighbors are up to the challenge let alone capable of comprehending the dangers.

Bartering is a certainty, especially given our suicicdal economic and monetary direction.

Some of the "overlooked items" can be pricey, people should get what they can afford and what they think they need based upon priorities.

It had buildings, converting to a secure warehouse should be possible.   ;)

Libertas, I read the piece you posted (hence my stated need for a warehouse), noting it mentioned sacrifice several times.  It's come to the point with us that we will have to stop living in our house the way we're used to doing and sacrifice some space, or acquire another structure.   ::gaah::

I wish we had a basement because stacking stuff on pallets wouldn't be an issue.  Disorder and living with stuff everywhere will make me nuts.

Oh I know.  My clan is driving each other nuts, and we do not yet have all what we want, let alone what others say we should have...we are already stressing existing resources and I am trying to get people thinking of stashing certain items in hidden caches like the days of old!  I get everything everybody says we should have...egads!!!

Yeah, looks practical and economical.  I'd like to stash one in the woods and load it up.

This posting at ZH has lots and lots of links...scanned some of them, much might be repeating things we already have/know, but there seems to be some good stuff in here too.  I'm going to have to go through them in more detail and see what there is to harvest, thought others might want to do the same.

More of the skills/knowledge stuff...human CPU warehouse if you will...

Fedcoat pre-po's and weaponmizing pAntifa/BLMers and such...

I think the flood of stuff can easily be imported...and easier to knock over police stations than military bases...plus the latter things break hard enough and loyalties be split bases could have their own issues...and then there's the slimy spooks (CIA) that can drop anything anywhere for anybody they see as a useful blunt object.
