When I was a kid, the “Wired” and “Blow By Blow” albums were on my turntable constantly. I only encountered his music because my guitar teacher was into him, so I picked up “Wired” and just feasted on it, leading me to explore more. But those two albums were my faves. Of all the guitarists of his generation who we consider “the best”, I think he was the most outside the box, and the most innovative. Even more so than Page, in my opinion. Certainly he was a more accomplished soloist than Page. This is sad news for me. Getting old sucks.
