NSFW baseball mascot

We are so far past and beyond the “long train of abuses and usurpations” that the Colonists and Founders experienced and which necessitated the Revolutionary War that they aren’t even visible in the rear-view mirror.

Thanks, when asked, "what's up in Amarillo?", we will know the answer.

Let's just say that in the era of Weinergate you just can't have a mascot like this:

In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

The Amarillo Sox, an independent minor league team in Texas, were expecting to have a huge hit on their hands by unveiling a new team mascot over the weekend.

Instead, they got this ... this ... this monster!*

Oops...didn't see rickl's earlier post on this. Have to say, though, that as stupid as this is it's not NSFW in my opinion.

Just kind of stupid.

I would like to know who dreamed this up, and who approved it? Wasn't it just a tad OBVIOUS???

This story has been linked at a number of sites by now.  I don't remember where I saw it, but one commenter compared it to the turkey drop on WKRP in Cincinnati.

Best episode ever.

One of the best sit-com episodes ever.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

For your nostalgic viewing pleasure, the final six minutes of the episode:
