U.S.S Constitution

Got to do the Liberty Trail in Boston today.  Definitely worth the time, but the highlight of the trip was visiting the USS Constitution. There was something about actually standing on "on ironsides" - the ship commissioned by  G. Washington, that fought off the shores of Tripoli,  and that fought in the War of 1812, and she is simply beautiful, and still afloat.  Fatalist that I am, and with all my talk of letting her go down, I still  appreciate the metaphor.

She is still crewed by enlisted navy. The young woman organizing the tours had just been assigned there.. talk about a place to serve your tour of duty.

Been there. Done that. And I concur with your opinion. Nothing compares with standing on a piece of history. Our history.
In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

While my bucket list is relatively short, that is one I'd like to make.

Did that about 25 years ago, well worth the trip, and Old Ironsides is way cool.  Being an old squid myself I was quite naturally amazed at where the crew sacked out.
