I understand that he only 21 years old in his first combat tour and was following orders (not a legal justification since the order itself was not legal) and shot 3 military-aged Iraqis. I cannot imagine the pain that his mother and step-father is experiencing. When my son was that age, he was a Corporal in the USMC in his first combat tour in Afghanistan.
I do not understand why Pfc. Clagett is being held at Ft. Leavenworth KS in solitary confinement. After entering a guilty plea, he is serving an 18 year sentence even though the soldier who gave the order to kill the 3 Iraqis served three years and has been released.
