"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

After reading all that I found myself not caring about his past in the least. I care about what he's doing now in the present. Even if he was brought up in a monastery by Catholic Nuns it doesn't matter to me. I don't need to understand him to want him gone from my life!!

I really don't care about his past either. But what I DO care about is the media's obfuscation of it.

Agreed.  I blame the media more than anyone for his election.  If they had exhibited the slightest skepticism or curiosity, he wouldn't have come anywhere near winning.  The fact that they continue to cover for him and even act as his own personal attack dogs against opponents is very troubling.
We are so far past and beyond the “long train of abuses and usurpations” that the Colonists and Founders experienced and which necessitated the Revolutionary War that they aren’t even visible in the rear-view mirror.

I agree.

What's very interesting about his background, however, is how many of his mother's and grandfather's associations have contributed, via their children or other relatives, to his recent and current position.  Geithner's family and his have been connected for some time, for instance.  Valerie Jarrett's family as well.

I should rephrase. I do care that our president has an anti-American past. It personally galls me to the core, in fact. But my primary concern is because his past is resulting in present and future behavior. His anti-American past cannot harm anyone, other than by how it informs his current decisions.

The most troubling aspect of his past in and of itself is the fact that it is being hidden by the very agents entrusted with revealing such things.
