Yeah. Remember teh row it caused when I first put it up?

I tell ya', I'm only keeping one eye on things and having a fantastic summer. I know what needs doin', but I'm not gonna' let my time get commandeered by these scumbags. I'll get the rage going again when the timing is right.

There was a row HERE when you put it up?  No, don't remember and too frikkin bad; I like it.

Do what keeps you sane.  I've slipped over the edge and there's no coming back.

I think it was at the old IAF. GScott thought it imprudent or something and there was a good back and forth.
As you can see, I like it too! And I believe it!

I like the avatar. I believe it is the literal truth, too. I often find myself wondering in amazement at the fact that our colonial ancestors were, in so many ways, less harassed by the British Crown than we are today by the government instituted to replace it.

Yeah. Remember teh row it caused when I first put it up?

I tell ya', I'm only keeping one eye on things and having a fantastic summer. I know what needs doin', but I'm not gonna' let my time get commandeered by these scumbags. I'll get the rage going again when the timing is right.

I don't blame you for indulging in diversions. I've sort of crossed a line where the only satisfaction I have left is pure unbridled schadenfreude when the enablers and useful idiots chafe at the impositions of their own creation. The whole debt ceiling debacle (remember when the continuing resolution debate was brushed aside, so that we could "focus on the real fight ahead", i.e. this?) has provided ample and conclusive evidence that there is no hope whatsoever of achieving a political solution to this country's grave peril. The Republican party has made, as its semi-official policy, the idea that they do not have to be good or worthy, they simply have to be not quite as sh*tty as the Democrats and they'll always have our votes. "What are they gonna do, vote for the Democrats? Ha!" -- that's the GOP platform.

And, no, I know that a third-party challenge is hopeless. Weisshaupt mentioned in another thread that he thinks some people find his assessments too pessimistic, but I don't think that's the case at all. He is exactly right in the things he says.

Seriously -- at this stage in the decline of the republic the intellectual and emotional energy spent on politics would be better vested in other pursuits, namely those things that are likely to prove useful in the dark times ahead.

I won't and yes, I know.

How?  He keeps his head down and goes with the flow there.

We'd have merged and accommodated his perspectives if he hadn't been hell-bent on shoving it down our throats with no escape-clause.

I know it. It pisses me off. He was "one of us" in the loose sense of the word, and for whatever reason, he felt the need to blow it up.

I don't know this dude, but I hope this isn't BS!

Did you read any of the comments?  ::gaah::

The unsane walk among us..worse yet, they still multiply.

Any sane person realizes this may be the point in time where people look back and point to as the beginning of the end for the GOP.

 ::mooning::

This so-called "debt deal" is going to blow up in our faces and it will not prevent a rating downgrade.  Our paper will be junk-bond status sooner rather than later...it's a matter of when not if.

Get used to seeing these numbers explode -

I am almost 99.999% convinced that peaceful political action is incapable of rescuing this Republic-in-name-only.

I agree with G, I think the time has come to spend my time on more productive things to deal with the mother-of-all-sh*tstorms coming our way.

Oh, and for the record, Dan's avatar kicks ass!

The submissive Pubbies, by nature, give it up to their masters while listening to love songs telling them they have won.  Oh listen to Maxine rail against you,  you have won big time, bah.

However, there will be no downgrade, S&P and Moody's can't afford to do it.  The Dems, by pointing out prier inaccuracies, even though they were doing the Dems bidding, are warning the agencies of future retribution if they downgrade.  Thus, we have another "independent" agency  of a free society co-opted and no downgrade.

The House vote -

http://realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/08/02/compromise_passes_house_congress_cheers_2_trillion_more_in_debt.html

My gal Michele voted it down.

I dunno Charles, you see the economy pooping itself and a bunch of Ruling Class idiots seriously addicted to spending and I don't know how one doesn't downgrade this paper.  At some point "too much" will be defined.  We're already way out of the historical Debt:GDP ratio, what makes you think this will get better?  Obamakov tries to force taxes up, the economy will collapse and government receipts will evaporate...screams for massive cuts will commence and the left will die rather than cut anything...there is no good end here as long as Ruling Class fools hold sway.

More Ruling Class trash has to be purged from the GOP, but a) do you think their cheerleaders (like The Butthead) will stand pat while the Tea Party targets more good republicans? and b) do we really have the luxury of time to bother with this for very long anyway?!

No.  Not in my opinion.

The Senate just passed it.

OK, we just gave Obama 2.9 trillion for his campaign funds,
so does anyone really believe there will ever be any cuts?

Oh hell no.  The "cuts" weren't to start taking place for a couple years anyway, the rest further out.  This Congress cannot bind a future Congress now anyway; the Balanced Budget Amendment is supposed to remedy that.

Cuts.  I have to laugh.  As I understand it, the "thinking" runs like this:  government is presumed to grow (forever) at a rate of about 7%; the "cuts" are "minimizing" that to 5% ..... or 4%.  Or something.  Still growing, just a little less, emphasis on the little.  I figure this is what the "progressives" mean by "progress".

Furthermore, the House was sold on the idea that raising the debt ceiling was for paying for money already spent.

And the F**kstick in Chief is on now, gloating.   ::rockets::
