Chris Christie slams fearmongering over Sharia law

New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie defended his decision to nominate a Muslim judge to the state Superior Court against conservative critics who warned that the new judge will implement Sharia law. The notoriously blunt-spoken Christie calling their fears "crap" and "crazy."

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

President Chris Christie?

In vetoing a bill (S2946) that would have required New Jersey to stay in a regional program intended to curb greenhouse gases — a program Christie plans to leave by the end of the year — the governor said “climate change is real.”

He added that “human activity plays a role in these changes” and that climate change is impacting our state.”

Christie is great when he's smacking down rent-seeking public employee unions, but otherwise, not so much. I think a lot of us had an early "political infatuation" with Christie because his willingness to speak without sugar-coating was a novelty among politicians. He might be a good fit for New Jersey, probably the best you could expect from a northeastern state, but he is decidedly not a good fit for President.

I nominate him for Labor Secretary.  ::mooning:: to the unions!

I second that.
