London's Burning
« on: August 08, 2011, 06:24:25 PM »
Seemingly lost in the obsession over the U.S. debt downgrade and the stock market hijinks is the unrest in London, England.  I had read some headlines over the weekend but didn't get around to investigating further.  Apparently tonight the situation is seriously escalating, and police and firefighters are being overwhelmed.

Gates of Vienna has a series of posts collecting e-mails, tweets, and Skype reports:
Live From London
Live from London part 2
Live from London part 3

There's also this at PJM's Tatler:

And a commenter at Ticker Forum provided some mood music:

This is very, very bad.  Comments indicate it's mixed race -- may be so, but I'm not convinced.

It is so bad, AP "news" just reported it at their 8PM broadcast.

Britain has a Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents. It isn’t quite living up to its name, though.

Quote
The group is pressing to ban fire extinguishers. They think it would prevent more accidents if residents fled burning buildings instead of fighting the flames themselves.

Many high-rise buildings are starting to take the Royal Society’s recommendation. Mike Edwards lives in one of those buildings. As he told Metro:

‘They are worried we will point them in the wrong direction or use the wrong extinguishers,’ he said. ‘But if you are trapped in a burning building, you will work out how to use one.’

So there you have it. According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, the risk of spraying yourself with a fire extinguisher outweighs the risk of burning to death.

How utterly appropriate in view of the past two days' events.  THIS is why London burns.

They're probably worried that a homeowner might spray a burglar with a fire extinguisher.  Can't have that.

Sad really. Only a few short decades of letting liberals run your country and they import millions of Turd Worlders who rapidly turn the place into part of the Turd World.

If you're going to lose your civilization, at least have the satisfaction of knowing your conqueror was better, stronger, and smarter than you. In the West's case, we're losing our civilization because we no longer have the cultural will, and this is simply the flotsam and jetsam of the world rushing into the vacuum.

Yup. And while watching the fire may it be possible that those American moderates understand they are watching their very own potential future, and why.

rickl, that musical interlude brought this to mind.

Report this morning on the radio didn't mention race, made me immediately suspicious.

You see, its all conservative's fault. People with businesses are rich, and we are showing the rich we can do what we want

And after showing them? Where will your bottles of wine come from?

Britain, once the very pinnacle of human civilization. Now, just another outpost of the Turd World. It's amazing what the West will put up with to deflect any notion of the big bad R-word. Even its own suicide, apparently.

UPDATE:  Photos - people being made to hand over their clothes

Video as well; apparently all "tribes" are involved now.

"Inspector Gadget" - Brit cop blog -   http://inspectorgadget.wordpress.com/

Very, very bad there, the cops are being handcuffed.

It won't stay there; coming here soon.  The flash-mobbing will escalate into arson.

Heh, that tends to happen with stories such as this.  I wonder why?  ::thinking::

A real live rolling horror story.

The only thing missing from the formula, for us, is hunger.
I think Bambi will have a hard time achieving that.
