His gravy train is running out. Of course he's pissed.
Scumbag.
He's got enough gravy to never worry about gravy again. Filthy rich ideologues who will never have to concern themselves with money again inevitably turn their attention to other pursuits, such as their legacy and power. It's Gore's legacy and power that are threatened now, more than his wealth. It's the slipping away of his diabolical vision that has him all sweaty. He believes that Global Warming can be used as the axis of justification for world socialist government and wealth redistribution regime. He believes he can be instrumental in ushering in that regime, and then sit in a place of power once it's in place. I'm not saying he's not pissed because his future in the carbon market is threatened. But I think it is the threat to his legacy and power that really galls Gore.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."
- Thomas Jefferson
