the price of clothing goes up and retailers are hiding the increases or at least trying to
this is why I sew and stockpiled fabric
and why I mend clothes and why i don't get rid of stuff
$80 for jeans?

Haven't dragged out my ex's sewing machine but I don't throw cloth away. I will stitch up favorites, save all the buttons, pockets, and belt loop straps; the balance can serve a multitude of needs.
