Republican Delusion is Obama's All-Too-Secret Weapon
« on: August 21, 2011, 12:06:05 PM »
An article by John Ziegler at American Thinker.

There's a lot of it I don't agree with, but there is plenty of food for thought and discussion.  Many of the commenters are downright hostile, but I don't agree with them.  I have a comment in there somewhere.

Bottom line, I think his central point is valid:  Anybody who thinks Obama is dead meat had better wake up.  I can think of plenty of scenarios where he could win re-election.
We are so far past and beyond the “long train of abuses and usurpations” that the Colonists and Founders experienced and which necessitated the Revolutionary War that they aren’t even visible in the rear-view mirror.

"That leaves only Mitt Romney as the last hope."

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Sometime it's further in an article but there is always a tip-off that the writer's perspective is askew from conservative or even rational Republican thought:

[blockquote]
Quote
"The first sign that the GOP base had left the gravitational pull of the rational earth in the Obama era was when professional blowhard Donald Trump shot to the top of the presidential polls on the strength of his bogus birth certificate crusade."
[/blockquote]
John, the polls are not the base, they are not even the Republican majority.

[blockquote]
Quote
"While the vast majority of conservatives (including many prominent commentators)..."
[/blockquote]
How many prominent conservative commentators are there?

[blockquote]
Quote
"Pawlenty was the one candidate who clearly would have made the election an unambiguous referendum on Obama"
[/blockquote]
I can't take it anymore. You're right,  there's pleanty not to agree with.  This campaign is going to take
some wild turns and half of them are because Obama is not going to be that diffult to beat.
He's got the biggest machine in American history

This guy rode into the public consciousness on Sarah Palin's coattails and now he thinks that makes him worthy of political commentary? He's had a rather unremarkable career punctuated with controversy and seemingly poor judgment.

He rushed to Palin's defense when he thought he could capitalize on the media malfeasance surrounding her. Then he stabbed her in the back when that appeared advantageous. Now we're supposed to take his amateur pontifications as conventional wisdom - that Tim Pawlenty was The One™ and now that he's gone, Mitt Romney is our only hope?

Phht. Next.

Seriously, did anyone actually read the whole article? Is there a cliff note version? Do I need to vote for it in order to find out what is in it?
Sounds as if the media has all the power, conservatives are insane, Palin destroyed herself and a RINO is our only hope.

The Establishment Repub's, Ruling Class, Rovian's and Ziegler's...anybody who supports or agrees with that trash...they've gone full retard...

I say we let conservatives choose a conservative candidate for once, and run a candidate with principles and balls against Duh Wun, anything less (Romney or whatever) will fail utterly.

I warned a while ago that the Ruling Class sappers in the GOP will not go away willingly this election cycle, I suspected they would pull out all the stops to pooh pooh, belittle and demonize any and all conservative candidates, and here we have this Ziegler clown writing off all conservatives and touting the guy with all the establishment money in his pocket.  As Gomer Pyle would say "Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!", eh?  Yeah, not a surprise here!

Hey establishment?  Kiss this!
