Infowars, Alex Jones and ThinkProgress as sources? Color me skeptical of the authenticity of those claims.

The videos are damning. Watch them.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Can't see the videos at work, but what's his reasoning? He's not intelligent enough to smack down a heckler?

No, it appears that the congressman never engages any of the camera operators, and they aren't heckling anyone. They're just operating handheld cameras at a townhall, and security forcibly takes their cameras away.

I saw this reported by a more reputable source and what was written there said Chabot did it to protect the privacy of his constituents -- sometimes they speak about their personal concerns -- and trusted the media present to protect it as well, as opposed to the two "Democrat operatives" from whom the cameras were taken.

Next meeting, he was reported as saying, cameras would be permitted and constituents would be told to approach him privately with their issues.

Still, handled poorly.

 ::thinking::

let me get this right:

You show up at a public town hall meeting and you're worried about your concerns being filmed but not that everyone in the room can hear them?

The "public" didn't say it, Chabot did.  Consider the source.  Especially after noting he expected "the media" to not use what they filmed if it "violated privacy".

Sounds like a reasonable interpretation. Thanks!
