Why Won't America Embrace The Left?

Plenty of material for discussion in this Salon interview of Michael Kazin, author of "American Dreamers."

My main takeaway from it is that leftism is, as I have known for a few years now, more of a (false) religion than a philosophy because of its adherents refusal to deal with reality.

Geez, now I wonder WHY the Left has been unable to steamroll its will upon the citizenry here in the US as opposed to the proliferation of Leftism across Western Europe.

Much of America has embraced leftists ideas without realizing that's what they are, to wit: even conservatives who champion radical egalitarianism -- "equal" rights for all, even if some of the "all" are using our institutions against us.

Think no more:  The 2nd Amendment.  When you defang a populace, lefties win.  That's why we have Operation Fast and Furious/Gunrunner, which is a blatant attempt by the proglodytes in power to throw out the 2nd Amendment through a government-manufactured international 'crisis'.

There was a YouTube clip I saw some time ago about gun laws, with interviews of those from the UK, Australia and Canada.  To a person, they all said the worst thing their people ever did was to meakly hand over their weapons.  There warning to Americans was a stark, 'don't do what we allowed to happen'.

Why won't America embrace the left?  Because whether most people realize it or not America's founding documents codified the idea of natural law and allowed them to live it out thus coloring our history and expectations.
