Jeff Bridges embarking on music career
« on: August 24, 2011, 08:52:48 AM »
At the link are several live performance videos of Jeff Bridges and his new country band, along with interview material. If you saw "Crazy Heart" (excellent film) and bought into his musical performances at all, this seems to be a real-life extension of that same style of "authentic" country music, ala Chris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, etc.

From the interview, he says he's using this as a vehicle to feed hungry American children. Haven't delved into the charity to see if it's legit or Leftist. A little warning bell goes off when he talks about summertime when poor kids who don't get their school lunch go without food, but that doesn't seem to be enough to judge it. He says point-blank it's a non-partisan effort.

I went to the link to listen to one song, and ended up listening to every one.

The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Uh-oh...

Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign operates on four key fronts:

* Creating public-private partnerships at the state level to break down barriers that prevent kids from accessing the food they need.

* Feeding hungry kids where they live, learn, and play. In 2009, thanks to a lot of team work, we helped provide 4.5 million more meals to needy children.

* Educating children and families about nutrition and healthy eating. Through Share Our Strength's Cooking Matters™, we have reached nearly 60,000 families, spreading knowledge on how to budget for groceries and cook great tasting and nutritious foods.

* Building awareness of the childhood hunger crisis and a drive for change among all Americans. Using as many channels as possible we are making No Kid Hungry a shared national priority.

I'm really tired of this "feeding hungry kids" crap.  Millions are on the SNAP/foodstamp program; how is it their kids are still not being fed?  Not to mention that the bar has been moved from hungry to "food insecure", and that missing one meal a day qualifies as "food insecure".  I daily miss meals; I don't eat breakfast and lunch is iffy.  I must be "food insecure" with a house full of food I don't care to eat every five minutes.

Beginning of summer every freakin' year, we're treated to the wailing about how school-fed kids will friggin starve while on vacation because "for some children, school lunch is the only meal they get".  When I see skinny kids scrounging in dumpsters, MAYBE I'll take another look.  Until then, this is so much bullsht.

But it looks real good and caring, dunnit.

Semi, huh? I'm seeing things too black and white for semi these days. If he's a libtard, he's a full-on libtard.

Yeah. They've been given the benefit of "shades of gray" for long enough now, and spent that time pursuing a goal of cultural Marxism while acting semi-offended whenever they're actually called socialists or Marxists.

Me? I've had more than enough of "nuance".
