Should we add a "Weather and/or Natural Disasters category?
« on: September 06, 2011, 09:51:04 PM »
Rickl suggested a "Weather" category. In thinking about it, it seems like there is nearly always something being discussed here regarding weather and/or natural disasters. Floods, fires, tornadoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, heat waves, cold waves, etc. The Global Warming category doesn't cover it. Should we add a new category for discussion of natural events in the news?

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Well, I voted for it (naturally).

At Ticker Forum, their weather/natural disaster forum is called "Planetary Tantrums".
We are so far past and beyond the “long train of abuses and usurpations” that the Colonists and Founders experienced and which necessitated the Revolutionary War that they aren’t even visible in the rear-view mirror.

That's definitely appropriate. ;D

I thought this would have been covered in TEOTWAWEKI but it doesn't bother me if a new category is created. Go for it!

How about this idea?...

Global Warming insanity has become a caricature. The possibility that those attempting to foist socialism will be able to use AGW as a tool is dwindling daily.

So... what if we get rid of the Global Warming category, replace it with a weather & natural disasters category, move the contents of the AGW forum into the new category, and from that point forward, place AGW related items in the new weather category?

Thoughts?

Sounds good.

Or maybe leave the Global Warming stuff in the new Weather topic and not create another new topic.

I'll leave the voting open for a little while longer in case someone wants to weigh in who hasn't.
