Murder in the Caucasus

Islamists taking over the Caucasus, the Caucasian mountains, how upside down is that?
Quote
Murder

At least four tourists from Moscow have been killed by militants in Russia's North Caucasus region on their way to a ski resort.
...
A message on Islamist website Islamdin.com, hosted by the militant group Caucasus Emirate, said the tourists were killed by "mujahideens" because they "came into the zone of war".

This is a good opportunity for Putin to set an example.

Part of me really wants to side with the Russians in smashing these Islamic barbarians, but on the other hand Russia constantly thwarts our efforts when it comes to dealing with Iran. Political Islam is a threat to us and the Russians equally, and this is one area where we and our erstwhile Soviet adversaries should be on the same page, but they seem to be more interested in continuing games of Cold War oneupmanship.

Agreed.  Their eons of inbred inferiority complex compels them to always seek a national status their merits cannot ever attain and their lust for money is not an adequate substitute for a rational foreign policy.  I would have liked them as an ally sharing our vision and values, but their history always seems to pull them back into muckiness.  They should be treated as a potential belligerent, Obama & Clinton can stick that "reset-button" up their arses!
