"A protester carries a picture of Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein on a pole during an “Occupy Wall Street” rally in New York’s Washington Square October 8, 2011."

That is the most outrageous snapshot of the whole mess.  We don't do that.  That is third world Marxist tyranny
in action.  We don't put people's head on a pike. We got to court.  These dumb bastards need a reality check.
If they are not given a check this mindless lust will only escalate into a frenzy.  Maybe not at this meeting
but if left unchecked it will escalate and it will happen.  God willing it will be restricted to those areas of worst infestation.

The organizers are trying to create the French Revolution part II.  May they benefit of their own devices.

Speak for yourself.  It doesn't bother me.

Personally, I'd prefer to see Ben Bernanke's head on a pike.  His real head, not just a rubber mask.
We are so far past and beyond the “long train of abuses and usurpations” that the Colonists and Founders experienced and which necessitated the Revolutionary War that they aren’t even visible in the rear-view mirror.

I am totally un-amazed at the proliferation of posters with the "communist" and "socialist" party tag lines.

There is no way that I would want to be anywhere near these creatures.

The police have batons. They need to start using them.

In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

Okay, so I went to the linked thread at marketticker and poked around a little.

Color me unimpressed.

I came away with a few thoughts and observations...

 - The thread was overrun with Ron Paul types and Libertarians. The thread was started with a letter from a Libertarian Party chair from some backwater. The Tea Party is NOT Libertarian. The Tea Party is NOT chock full of Ron Paul drones (although they would like to take it over).

 - They think that they understand what is happening but they sure seem pretty shallow. Arguing with them would be entirely pointless.

 - They hate bankers which is almost always code for anti-semitism. It very predictably comes back to Jews for some people.

 - And despite all protests to the contrary some of them are really salivating over the prospect of extremely violent acts perpetrated by someone against their imagined enemies, mainly bankers.

This quote from "pika-steph" was, I thought, particularly revealing:

Quote
An effigy of Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein’s bloody severed head on a pike, however, was happily paraded around for all protestors to cheer.

OMG! OMG! THAT IS SO FREAKING AWESOME! How many years have we been waiting to see THAT?! Holy ****.

There is a word for someone who reacts this way to that image: bloodthirsty.

Another would be: maniacal.

Seriously, this woman is deeply disturbed. I don't care about any alleged credentials about founding the Tea Party. If she were in any organization that I belonged to I would do everything in my power to politely yet firmly show her the door. She is nuts.

So, no, I am not buying into this crap in any way shape or form. Anyone who embraces this is asking for trouble. Consult a good history text.

EDIT: I have spent even more time reading comments on that thread. There were one or two cool heads but most were for shooting first and asking questions later. Much later. Like never. Lots of calls for violence against bankers. Lots of cheering for fantasy/imagined violence against bankers.

Well, there is something to be said for that.

I would put George Soros' head on a pike. OK, not really, but I believe he should be executed.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

In my mind, since his money is funding most of the front groups and whackos doing this, he should be charged with terrorism and fomenting violence, tried, and hung!

BTW that pick is awesome, I am so stealing that!

Political party paying Occupy Wall Street protesters?

posted at 10:05 am on October 10, 2011 by Ed Morrissey

Quote
"My friend Scott Johnson got a tip from a reader that the progressive New York political party Working Families has run an ad on Craigslist, one that apparently promises a salary for joining the OccupyWallStreet protests.  Here’s a snapshot of the ad itself:

The headline strongly suggests that the position entails getting paid to protest, since the headline stresses that the job will hold “Wallstreet [sic] accountable now” and that the new hire will make a “differnence [sic]” and “get paid.”  The body of the ad doesn’t specify what the duties of the position will be, although it does stress that it’s not going to be a job that involves complicated policy formation, or presumably proofreading:

You must be an energetic communicator, with a passion for social and economic justice.  Only outgoing, articulate dedicated, determined candidates will be considered for the positions.
For those candidates that qualify WFP offers substantial paid-training provided by senior leadership, on varied issues such as: advocacy, public speaking, mobilizing, fundraising, networking and organizing. We invest in passionate people with excellent communication skills and a full benefits package is offered to those candidates that qualify. In addition, there is opportunity for advancement and travel to our satellite chapters and out of state affiliates.
This is not a policy job! Through direct action you will be shaping NY state politics for the next 20 years.

“Direct action” usually means protesting.  In other words, WFP wants Astroturfers, presumably to join other Astroturfers who tire of their career at Wall Street in the coming days.  I wonder how many of those currently at the #OWS protests are already drawing a salary from WFP?
By the way, for a political party that professes to be on the side of working families to oppose the greed on Wall Street, they sure don’t pay much for their ground troops:

Compensation: $350-$650 A Week Depending On Responsibility & Length Of Time On Staff
For full-time work, $350 works out to $8.75 an hour … in New York City.  Not exactly a living wage, is it?  It’s probably not quite as low as flipping burgers at Mickey D’s, but I’d guess that a Big Apple barista makes more to start, especially when counting tips.  Always good to see that those protecting the masses from exploitation are sticking to the declared principles of labor relations that they decry.  At least we know what the lowest-paid job on Wall Street is — and I’m guessing it’s not a union shop, either."

I think all these payed Protesters should get lifetime benefits, a Pention, free Healthcare for the rest of there lives and all there families from here to Eternity. Paid for, by the Democrat Party! ::thumbsup::

But to witness a covert action by unions, bent on destruction of the fabric of this nation.......disturbing.

You have to ask the question, "What do the unions get out of destroying capitalism?".  If there are no business, there is no need for a workforce... they loose.  I either don't get it or I don't see their end game.

At least the Tea Party (by standing with the constitution) have a vision of what they see as the end game.  If you were to ask any of these OWS'ers what is to happen after they destroy capitalism, what would they say?  Do they even know?

They're like all the Useful Idiots of the past. They think that the "fundamental transformation" they usher in will include them in its power echelons. When they (quickly) realize just how much that is not the case, they're generally already lined up in front of a hastily dug ditch. There's a video on YouTube of an interview conducted in the early 80s with Yuri Bezmenov, a former KGB operative who defected. He discusses exactly this irony, how the trouble makers most responsible for ushering in communism/Marxism are very often the first ones eliminated by it when their usefulness is past its expiration date.

Look at what happened with labor unions in the USSR, they were outlawed and their function folded into the apparatus of the Communist Party. This process is described in Shakedown Socialism, a book by another ex-Soviet named Oleg Atbashian (who also runs the hilarious parody site, The People's Cube).
