Congressman Tom McClintock delivered these remarks to the Council for National Policy.

I want to welcome this groundbreaking scientific expedition to the savage lands of the Left Coast.  You are here in California to answer an important theoretical question and now you have your answer.

Yes, this is what Barack Obama’s second term would look like.

Study it.  Fear it.  And then go home and make sure that it never happens to the rest of the country.

What an excellent read. I've liked McClintock for several years, through his many appearances on the Hugh Hewitt show throughout his failed attempts to gain statewide office in California. Smart guy, and good conservative.

Rush Limbaugh has made a similar point in regard to the current national economy, when he says, [paraphrased] "This is what it looks like when liberals get their way."
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

I suppose that it is for the best that McClintock lost to the governator. Kalifornians were already far too insane to be redemptive and would have only taken him down with them. My state is a microcosm of Kalifornia where a tiny minority of morons rule with a stupidity that burns like a thousand suns. The mayor of my town is supposed to be a pubbie, but he recently blathered, "Why would anyone need a .50 rifle?!" "Those things are dangerous!" Yea, so is a toaster if you happen to have one near your bathtub and you're a moron (I actually told him that).

If I ever appear to act like them you have my permission to shoot me.

...If I ever appear to act like them you have my permission to shoot me.

First I'll duct tape you to a chair, slap you repeatedly in the face, yelling, "Snap out of it, man!"

Just replay some of Reagan's greatest speeches, he'll snap out of it!
