U.K. Pulls Plug on United Nations
« on: March 04, 2011, 08:36:19 PM »
H/T Rayra:

"In a sweeping and hard-nosed reorganization of priorities for its $10.6 billion multilateral foreign aid program, the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government of Prime Minister David Cameron has pulled the financial plug entirely on four U.N. agencies at the end of next year, put three others judged merely "adequate” on notice that they could face the same fate unless they improve their performance "as a matter of absolute urgency;” and issued pointed criticisms of almost all the rest."

From the article "Moreover, the British actions change the focus of the debate, from gauzy generalizations about the need for and importance of the U.N. to a realistic look at what it actually achieves."

Originally, to stop wars by providing a forum by which nations could formally talk to one another when they haven't a point of commonality.
Today as well know it's a place where liberals/progressives can "infest" by investing time and otherpeople's money in pet project that are usually wasteful and unnecessary. Climate change boondoggle, oil for food, education and restrictive living are all part of the left's war against liberty therefore the perfect means to an end.

I still believe that we need to get us out of the UN and them out of the US.
Remember, four boxes keep us free:
The soap box, the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box.

Dayum! With all the tough talk coming out of Britain, Germany, and France lately...

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Ironic, ain't it?
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.
