Close Encounter

Quote
The bad news first: An asteroid the size of an aircraft carrier will be hurtling toward Earth and is expected to fly between the Earth and the moon on Tuesday. The good news: The space rock will not, repeat not, hit Earth. Even though NASA has classified asteroid 2005 YU55 as a "potentially hazardous object." Even though it will pass closer than all other large asteroids have done in the past 35 years. It will do just that: pass by.

Geezelouise! This is the first I've even heard of this and I'm pretty much a news junkie...guess I missed it, or it wasn't reported until now. If it wasn't reported until now, I wonder why that would be?

Being the size of an aircraft carrier, if that thing hit us it'd do some horrendous damage! Pretty much no matter where it landed it'd impact life on earth in a pretty big way!

This is the same NASA that couldn't find where that satellite fell?

No chit CO, between the earth and moon?  That leaves way too much room for error any way you look at it!
