And how much do we owe them again? How long will it be before they quit buying our debt, or begin demanding accelerated repayment?

Chinese ‘Ruling Elite’ Believe they are ‘Approaching an Inevitable Breaking Point’

...Some of the issues facing the workers in the communist country make the complaints of the average OWS protester pale in comparison.

For instance, Since 2003, house prices in China have tripled.

Not bad enough?

Well, consider some of these facts (via Business Insider):

[blockquote]* Around 140 million farmers have had their land forcibly seized by the government in the past 17 years
* 16,810 Chinese coal miners have died in accidents in the past five years
* There are nearly 500 million who live on less than $2 a day[/blockquote]
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

That their people are yearning for a better living is undeniable, they are no longer satisfied with the crumbs the Politburo doles out to them, and no amount of crony-capitalism can forestall the inevitable much longer.  As is their pattern, any social upheavals are crushed with force.  At some point it is just logical they will stop foreign investment, but their inflation is making the crumbs smaller each day.  They have some hard choices coming, and I for one wouldn't want to be the average citizen there.
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.

Someone floated this at me the other day (I neglected to ask for a source and I haven't been able to source anything at all); that the reason this administration will not allow any of our natural resources to be harvested -- coal, oil, natural gas -- is that our reserves were used as collateral for all the borrowing.

What say y'all?   ::foilhathelicopter::      or       ::thinking::

No conspiracies needed, with the vast stupidity crisis that grips America.  We really do have a large class of people who think we can create energy from the pens of poli sci retards writing some policy.

Its not hard to imagine.  Looks what happened to the natural resources in Argentine after the collapse...
There is no doubt in my mind that these people- who are knowingly TRYING to cause a collapse, have this in mind

Even if you would chose to believe that you have to ask what guarantees do the chicoms have that the next occupant of the WH would honor that nonsense. Even if offered the Chinese wouldn't buy into it.But what this ass could guarantee is that he would stall the development of our resources for at least 4 years and maybe 8 to give them a good head start with their world wide purchases.
