Debate Tonight
« on: November 22, 2011, 02:22:46 PM »

Is anybody going to watch?
Will there be live blogging or will it be dead air?
Does anybody care?

CNN Hosts GOP Debate on National Security from Washington, DC

Tuesday, Nov. 22 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. (ET) live from the historic DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. The debate, in partnership with The Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), will focus on three of the most critical issues candidates will encounter during the Republican presidential nomination: national security, foreign policy and the economy. The debate falls on the eve of the deadline for the so-called congressional super committee to create a plan for at least $1.2 trillion in deficit reduction.

In addition to Blitzer, Foreign policy experts from AEI and The Heritage Foundation will pose questions to the candidates. The following eight presidential contenders will participate in the debate: Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, businessman Herman Cain, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, Texas Rep. Ron Paul, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.[/blockquote]

Ya know, I'm not gonna watch. I know where they all stand, and I would just as soon watch the highlight reel of Herman Cain's lack of knowledge.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

I'm on vacation in Texas and probably won't watch.

Went to the Shiner Beer brewery yesterday...

They said picture taking was not allowed so I naturally had to take pictures. Mrs. trapeze was appalled.

Funny thing is that Paul complained about not getting any airtime during the last debate. He's getting lots of time now and he is using it to say we need to ignore all foreign threats (Iran, Pakistan, etc.) and focus on being isolationist.

Don't know if that is going to help him. I'm guessing it won't.

Santorum is the only one who is getting shorted tonight. Maybe he should start wandering around the stage...standing behind the other candidates that are getting airtime and make funny faces or something.

Cain sounded empty. Again.

Ron Paul sounded nuts. Again.

Gingrich sounded left of Perry on illegal immigration. And then doubled down on it. A lot of people are going to have a hard time rationalizing their support of Gingrich after that shameful display.

EDIT: Perry Romney was seriously undistinguished tonight. He sparred with Huntsman for some reason.

Huntsman's eyebrows were very threatening.

Bachmann sounded more reasonable and credible than most tonight.

Santorum was there, I think, but I can't remember anything he said.

Seriously, Santorum is in trouble of being invisible during these things. He needs to show up with one of those flashing neckties or maybe clown shoes or something...anything to get noticed.

Video: Perry vs Bachmann suspending aid to Pakistan

[blockquote]
Perry and Bachmann disagreed tonight over suspending aid to Pakistan. Perry would suspend aid until Pakistan demonstrates that it would be a trusting ally however Bachmann believes that to be highly naive and would continue aid to Pakistan because she worries that their nukes would fall into the hands of the Taliban or Al-Qaeda:

I would have replied to Bachman that if the nukes fell into the hands of the Taliban or Al Qaeda Liberal strongholds would be at risk the most and well NY and DC both deserve to be nuked out of exsitence and doing so would benefit all America. ::whoohoo::

Illegal Immigration -

gNewt - "humane approach "   ::facepalm::

Ricky - "don't have a heart"   ::facepalm::

Bachmann and even the RINO Romney got that one right!   ::)

The effing Persians -

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9R65F4O1&show_article=1

What's wrong with "all of the above"?!   ::thumbsup::

Speaking of Mittens - "We need to protect America and protect our troops and our military and stop the idea of Obamacare."

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_GOP_DEBATE?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2011-11-22-20-51-19

Like Mr.RomneyCare has a right to open his mouth!

And, from that same c*cksucking AP link, this - "Asked about the same general topic, Bachmann said Obama has 'essentially handed over our investigation of terrorists to the' American Civil Liberties Union. 'Our CIA has no ability to investigate,' she said. Bachmann did not cite any examples to buttress either of her claims.  is priceless on two counts - First, her statement is essentially correct in terms of Obama policy and ROE's, and Second, has the c*cksucking AP ever asked that walking f**kstick in the White House "any examples to buttress either of her claims?"!

 ::gaah::
