Ditto.  And the quest for President Scapegoat continues.....
No one who really understands the problems we face and wants to solve them  is going to be willing to run.  Newt is right we need to find those willing to march in wrapped burlap boots, but he is wrong when he thinks he is speaking metaphorically about marshalling people to win elections. He is right when he says replacement and not reform is required, he iswrong if he thinks that can be accomplished politically without the aid of armed force.

Newt said last night that by any rational standard, he is the most conservative of the GOP candidates. And Michelle Malkin might agree if we could remove the last decade of his life, but she says that’s where the problem lies with Newt. She described it as his “proclivities with faddish third wave progressivism” over the last 10 years that led him to support big government candidates like Dede Scozzafava in New York and sit on a couch with Nancy Pelosi. And she believes it’s important not to minimize these things too much when considering all the candidates.

ETA: He's had dalliances with third and new wave progressivism his whole political career, he's only made
success was achieved because of a boot on his neck and a bit in his mouth.  As president he will have neither.

I'll vote for any  of 'em.
If it's him it'll be Maalox, baking soda, aspirin, and nerve pills.
He over estimates himself and he overstates his participation
in the past. Ask Dick Armey and Tom DeLay, they have a thing
or two say about that.

Since WWII what two presidents had "college professor" in their CV?

Somebody would have to get me sh*tfaced and drag me kicking and screaming to vote for most of these folks...

ABO just doesn't stir my chilli...

I heard Rush say today he think Bachmann would be one who would probably be the most likely to execute the office of POTUS with the most consistency with respect to founding conservative principles.  I'd have to say I agree with that.  Derpsite her missteps I would at least be able to sleep at night with her at the helm.  gNewt?  Mittens?  Perry?  I could see each of them throwing us under the bus for "comprehensive immigration reform", "climate change", ObamaCare/ObamaCare-Lite, God knows what...

Expecting professional pol's to do anything other than that which keeps them in power means we are screwed no matter what...

I am beggining to see the Ruling Class elements in both parties shape who the GOP nominee will be, and I am begining to lose any pretense to a political solution solving any of our dire problems...

You are one faithful son-of-a-gun.
Perry is capable of pulling stunts, that's for sure
but he is a man of his word.  Like it or not.

More and more as this world is unraveling my
concerns focus in on reviving America and to
me that is God, the Constitution, capitalism,
industry, and production.  That eliminates many

What the GOP base wants is a good debater

Posted by Red Red on Dec 2, 2011 in Politics | 69 Comments

I was listening to The Michael Berry Show last night (for those of you who aren’t familiar with him, he’s a Texan talk radio show host and particularly good at giving Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee a hard time) and found this segment to be spot on. Berry discusses the recent popularity of Gingrich and suggests it’s because the GOP base has set “good debate skills” as their number one criterion. This certainly explains why many recent Gingrich converts use one argument for their newfound support of Mr. Speaker – he could wipe the floor with Obama in a debate.

Michael Berry on Newt Gingrich in 2012
[/blockquote]

Berry closes by saying:[blockquote] [blockquote]
Apparently what we want in our next president is not that he be right on global warming, not that he be right on amnesty or illegal immigration, not that he be right on our core issues, not that he share our character issues, but that he be a good debater. [/blockquote]
Of course there is a larger issue here. Despite our understanding of how the mainstream media operates, the collective base falls for their calculated distractions and imposed agendas time and time again. Furthermore, it’s worth noting that even if our eventual candidate is the best debater on the face of the planet, the mainstream media (the same one telling us we must have a solid debate contender) will declare Obama the winner, regardless of who acutally wins.

Fine, take your master debater, I'll stick to principles to ensure my rights and liberties are not given away as part of some grand master deal!

He is the smartest person in the room and can be charming.
He can be charming by great effort.
He can be disciplined by great effort.
He will always be the smartest person in the room
He will be neither disciplined nor charming very long.

Not going to use that word unelectable.

They (not the Bilderburger's) will tear him up if he's the nominee.
He's a philanderer, women don't like that.
He's a philanderer, evangelicals don't like that.
He has flip floped on cap and trade, global warming,
mandatory insurance, all kinds of people don't like flip flopping.

Right there he's lost 20 to 40% of the vote and they haven't
opened up the suitcases full of the good stuff.

Oh, and that little book scandal when he was vainglorious
Speaker of the House will be dredged up too.

To win it will be necessary to make up that vote loss from
minorities (other than women) and democrats.

That's it Charles - get it all out of your system.

I recognize that you don't care for him, that he isn't sufficiently conservative for you, and/or that he carries a of of baggage. My question is what will you do when he is the Republican candidate?
