Holy sht! is right!  I see you, hemm; Titan Trader, GScott, TJ King, BigTex, The Yell and Soup.  No me, though.  And a bunch I can't read.

The three CT amigos are there. So are Altan, Rhadrin, and Old School. Old School was my f**king nemesis.

Old School!  Ugh; forgot him.  Him, Dwight and the "R" word were mine >>  "There is no such thing as race".  I coulda killed him fifty times for that.

Ralph E. was a union guy, IIRC, and he called me a leftist or a liberal or something and put me on ignore.  Me, a leftist.  Bwahah.

I see:
TitanTrader
Jose31V
BigTex
Old School
The Yell
Del Dolemonte
MnHawk
TJKing
Electra
KoreaVet
Hemmershem
Alphabet Soup

On another copy I also saw wraptard and miltrainer.

It reminds me that IDP did a good job of shepherding us over to this new site. There's a couple of names that I miss but a whole bunch that I don't  ::oldman::

Oh man, Jose!  He came over to CT for a bit and I chewed his ass so bad over him wanting to "compromise on cap & trade" for revenue purposes that he huffed off, never to return.

Wow, I'm starting to feel like an oldtimer now.

There was a period immediately after 9/11 when I was obsessively searching for news on the internet.  Maybe there were blogs before then, but I didn't know about them.  It seemed like they really took off right around that time.  I don't remember which was the first blog I read, but I quickly started reading several regularly.

I remember when Bill Whittle was a commenter at Rachel Lucas' old blog.  This was around the 2002-2003 time frame, before he started his own Eject!Eject!Eject!.  I also remember Steven den Beste's "USS Clueless", and Michele Catalano's "A Small Victory".  I was reading Belmont Club long before it joined Pajamas Media.  I've been reading Neo-Neocon since around 2005 or so.  Pretty much all of them linked to Little Green Footballs, and I eventually wound up there.  While I had commented at some of those other places, by late 2004 LGF was my "home base".

Things seemed to go pretty smoothly for a while, but in 2006 Charles Johnson abruptly banned a number of longtime members.  They went off and formed Gulf Coast Pundit.  I stuck with LGF a while longer.  In the spring of 2007 I left LGF.  While I don't consider myself a "Paulbot", I generally respect Ron Paul and think he's right more often than not, especially on economic issues.  At LGF he became the butt of jokes and I became increasingly incensed about it.  One Saturday I just walked away from there.  I hesitated a long time before deleting the bookmark, because the place was like home to me.  I was kind of depressed about it.

I clicked around to a few other links, then checked out Eject!Eject!Eject!  I found a guest post by Rachel Lucas.  She had quit blogging a couple years earlier, and here she was announcing her brand new blog!  I went there and became one of her first commenters.  I don't think more than 15 minutes passed between my deleting LGF's bookmark and adding hers.  I'll never forget that day.

I also joined Gulf Coast Pundit at that time, and that became my home base for a while.  I continued to read and comment at a variety of blogs.  In the summer of 2009, GCP's administrator suddenly deleted the whole blog during a very contentious thread about abortion.  One of our members was also a member at Conservative Talk and got us temporary accommodations there while we set up a new place which became Grouchy Conservative Pundits (so we could keep the same GCP abbreviation).

(redacted)

So then I started posting at It's About Freedom, and followed the gang here.  I still read and comment at numerous other places, though.

(ETA:  It was after I left LGF that Charles went batsh!t insane and started banning everyone who disagreed with him, or even thought of doing so.  I'm glad I got out while the gettin' was good.)

We are so far past and beyond the “long train of abuses and usurpations” that the Colonists and Founders experienced and which necessitated the Revolutionary War that they aren’t even visible in the rear-view mirror.

I used to read Rachel Lucas and Michelle Catalano; got to DenBeste on the tail-end of his blog.  Never got into LGF, really; it annoyed me that the sign up periods were so limited, so I moved on.  By the time the first "GCP" plug was pulled, I'd commented only a few times.

The first few places I got acquainted with was the WSJ and National Review Online and caught links and whatnot from there.  Funny, I rarely go to National Review now, too RINO for me.

It is.  I've "evolved" so radically, I wonder if I'll ever be able to abide gently in any modern society at this point.  There's too many people demanding too much I'm unwilling to give and appropriating what was never meant to be theirs.

That sums it up perfectly. It ain't theirs and I'll kill 'em to keep their grubby thieving hands off my stuff if they don't cease and desist soon.

My first experience in writing posts was over at Powerline and I concur with Trap's sentiments. Here I was, a middle aged guy with absolutely nothing in his life requiring application of my Political Science degree (from a fantastic, very small Quaker liberal arts school.) Then one day, shazam! I discovered Powerline and made a few comments. Back in the day, your comments could be rated, and I became obsessed with producing informative posts with a quirky humorous angle. Then, those miserable PL bastards stuck a dagger in my heart, bloggus interruptous, by bailing out without any notice whatsoever. Did I just just a naughty word to describe those selfish ingrates? Bastards can't help being bastards. They are just born that way.

Eventually, most of us landed at that other site, hosted by an admitted drunk and fantasist, nanosecondwhatshisname, and the Great Tone Wars began. I became disgusted, and along with the creme de la creme of the CT folks, migrated over to Its About Freedom. Not to be a conspiracy theorist or anything, but apparently some of the losers over at CT, jealous of the success of IDP's IAF, complained to the Proboard's owners like the whiny little bitches that they are, and we get shut down with only a week's notice.

So I say to the newbies: Welcome to our world! We are the grizzled veterans of the Tone Wars. We give no quarter and ask none. You better be able to back up your opinions or suffer the consequences. Enjoy a laugh or two, get to know the personalities behind the scenes here, and become a part of our little family.

That's a very good synopsis, BAS.

What is "insessions"?

No fears here; we're careful about misunderstandings and banning is an absolute last resort.  Unless a typical, lying, disrespectful, propaganda-spewing lefty stumbles in here by mistake. (Redundancy alert, there)   ;D
