Debate Tonight -12/03/11
« on: December 03, 2011, 02:20:55 AM »

8:00-10:00 PM ET,

Mike Huckabee to host GOP Presidential Debate,
December 3rd on FOX News. Six out of eight candidates to attend.

Six of the eight GOP Presidential Candidates will participate in the so called
debate.  it's called the  “Mike Huckabee Candidate Forum” , Saturday Night, December 3, 2011,
on the set of Huckabee’s Fox News TV Show in New York.

Didn't he just endorse Romney?  It should be a piece of work seeing who's shilling for whom.

I wonder when Cain decided not to participate. I would bet he jumps out of the race to try to save his marriage and regain the respect of those fine children of his.

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

- Thomas Jefferson

He's going to make an announcement today.
What happened to Cain should be a caution to all observers.
It is what will happen to any leading Republican candidate
that threatens the Establishment Republicans or Obama.
Their moral turpitude has no bounds.

Yeah whatever...

Unless someone comes out and starts telling the truth, that the Ruling Class is yet again engineering our defeat, that the Left and the Obama Chicago Thugs will committ any lie, any corruption and any coercion to stomp the living crap out of the GOP nominee no matter who it is, and that it is time for all liberty-loving people to start getting pissed off and start getting in the grills of these socialist tyrants and do everything possible to crush them utterly...

If I don't hear that call to arms, it's pointless to muster up any enthusiasm...
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.

I know some folks who have recently donated to him
not because they want him to be the nominee but because
they want to help him fight the screws.

It's not a debate it's an inquisition panel. gNewt's up first.

He avoided the first question, 'what would you
do to turn the economy?'.  "When I was with
Reagan... No, mister speaker, what would you
do?

Of Fuddy..... FoxNews doesn't come in on the Teli at work.  I never use the thing and didn't realize it didn't have that channel on it.  Only over-the-air channels here... Fox Sports.. but not Fox News.

Iowa Poll: Gingrich Leads Paul, Romney

Quote
A surge in support for Republican White House hopeful Newt Gingrich has made him the new front-runner in Iowa, which holds the first of next year's U.S. presidential nominating contests, according to a closely watched opinion poll published Saturday.

Gingrich, a former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, has support from 25 percent of likely Republican caucus-goers, up from just 7 percent in late October, the poll conducted for The Des Moines Register newspaper found.

The good news for Gingrich comes in the wake of the suspension of Herman Cain's campaign, and at the beginning of a very busy week for the GOP candidates.

Cain’s announcement in Atlanta Saturday offered a possible opening for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney or Gingrich to make a dramatic move in hopes of seizing momentum for the sprint to the Jan. 3 Iowa caucus.

This week will be a busy one for the candidates, with a forum before Jewish leaders and a debate Saturday hosted by ABC News in Des Moines. Hanging over the field is the question of whether Gingrich can seize on his ascent in the polls and possibly pick up some of Cain’s conservative support.

Gingrich sought to convince conservatives in a forum Saturday night that he would not stray from a limited-government philosophy, the Washington Post reported.

Asked why conservatives should trust that he won’t advance “big government approaches,” given his history of supporting an individual health-care mandate, climate change policies and a larger federal role in education policy, Gingrich said it was his years in Washington that made him best-suited to transform government.

“You cannot get the scale of change we want, and you can’t get the scale of change the tea parties want, by just appointing good people who have no understanding of the fight they’re about to be in,” Gingrich said..........<SNIP>

I didn't get to see the thing live and have only heard parts of it since. It seems to me that this is the best format yet. It makes perfect sense that states attorneys general (charged with dealing with state/federal interactions) get to interrogate the candidates. It's certainly better than listening to self important boneheads like Scott Pelley try to score points with their buddies on the cocktail party circuit by endlessly trying to trip up a candidate and "make" news.

The other thing that made the format good was the determination to prevent the one-on-one candidate fights that have characterized previous debates.

What we ended up with was good information on each of the candidates rather than another round of ammunition for the Democrats.

I do not like Huckabee at all but I am forced to give credit where it's due and this was a very, very good forum for providing useful information to the voters.

I do not have high hopes for Trump's upcoming debate.

BTW, there is at least one site that has a complete streaming copy of the forum if you want to go back and analyze the thing. It can be found here.

In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.
