Falling Skies
« on: December 04, 2011, 03:38:21 AM »
Did anyone else watch the TNT show called "Falling Skies" last year?

I really enjoyed it.  Those movies/computer games that deal with survival and pulling together a community after SHTF scenarios really hit some triggers for me and I can't get away from them.

This may be old news.. I just started Googling and came across an article from 7/7/2011 saying that Season 2 HAS been given the green light.
The 10-episode second season is slated to air summer 2012.

That crew doesn't look to me like they could survive a "group shower" .

I watched; it was good.  I'm waiting for the new ones.

I watched and liked it.
Had a hard time seeing Noah Wylie as a tough guy, but it worked

I've not watched it yet, but it's in the Netflix queue somewhere.  ;)

I like a show that turns a liberal (in the show and probably in real life) away from their ideals.

I've not seen Falling Skies - didn't even know it existed (price I pay for not being a boob-toob viewer I suppose). But isn't this the very essence of conflict? The age old question - are we fighters or are we food? is now compounded with, "have we become so soft that we no longer possess the will to survive?

Leftism is nihilism is death. They revere the very thing they fear the most. They are free to indulge in their worship of darkness and despair because life has become so very comfortable for them. So what happens when something comes along to threaten that comfort?

IDK if this is what Falling Skies deals with but it is a theme I would explore if I were a writer or producer...

I was skeptical at first too, but the show ain't half bad, and the school teacher (Wyle) appears to know what end of a gun goes "boom".  I'll dial into the next series...if we still have regularly scheduled programming that is.

But one that has decided that his kids and way of life is worth defending. I see it as an interesting way to see how script writers are going to demonstrate how one would survive in a the crap hits the Fan type setting.Oddly enough weapons were first and formost and what people are needed to make it all work.

That leaves all the touchy, feely crowd behind. I like the concept.
