Cheetah Dies Of Kidney Failure At Age 80
« on: December 27, 2011, 11:34:48 PM »
I had no idea that chimps could live this long.

Quote
Cheetah was roughly 80 years old, loved fingerpainting and football and was soothed by nondenominational Christian music, said Debbie Cobb, the sanctuary's outreach director.

He was an outgoing chimp who was exposed to the public his whole life, Cobb said today.

"He wasn't a chimp that caused a lot of problems," she said.

Cheetah acted in the 1932-34 Tarzan movies, Cobb said. Movies filmed during that timeframe starred Johnny Weissmuller and include "Tarzan and His Mate" and "Tarzan the Ape Man," according to the Internet Movie Database.

In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

I don't know if Cheetah was always portrayed by the same chimp, but regardless, the antics of Cheetah in those old flicks were sometimes outright hilarious slapstick, complete with wacky sound effects and a big toothy sh*t-eating grin for the camera.

The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

That was definitely a Cheetah classic! Just happened to catch the beginning of that one a few months ago, and got sucked in for the whole thing. Cheetah and Boy were awesome in that one - and Jane.... hummuna-hummuna.... Surprised they got away with those costumes in those days.

When I was a little kid, Tarzan was on every Sunday after church. I was more "religious" about racing home to watch Tarzan than I was about church.

I refuse to admit I'm even remotely aware of Johnny Weissmuller OR Maureen O'Sullivan. It could possibly give away my advanced age. ::unknowncomic::
