MEA Prez blinked, telling teachers to go back to work.  I guess that means she recognized a) they were illegally absent from work and b) their little spout-off is backfiring and people (parents) are getting PO'd!

http://gatewaypundit.rightnetwork.com/2011/02/walker-wins-children-head-back-to-school-today-in-wisconsin-along-with-the-students/

The question is, do we want this ilk back teaching our kids?

Teach kids what?  How to skip work, fuel hate speech and make complete asses out of themselves?!

 ::)

I hope Walker and the Repub's stick to their guns and do the right thing!

But there are reports of possible Repub defectors...I hope it is BS, I don't know how many RINO's WI has, but if they're like any other state, they'll have their share...

http://gatewaypundit.rightnetwork.com/2011/02/republican-turncoats-may-sabotage-governor-walkers-budget-cutting-plans/

Right now Walker & Co are winning, let the leftist continue to behave like spoiled idiot children, this is no time for compromise!

Considering the godawful quality of the "product" being turned out by modern American public education, if I were them I'd be doing everything possible to deflect any attention whatsoever! But not these goons. They're brazen for sure, but in the grand scheme of things, clearly not too bright.

FNC online poll shows over 92% say fire them all.

In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

First, this:

Quote
It wasn't entirely clear to me from earlier coverage whether the protesters are occupying the Wisconsin capitol building at night as well as during the day. They are. This from today's New York Times:

The marble-filled Capitol here has taken on a new look over so many days of protests: homemade signs hang in the famous rotunda, as well as on many walls and windows; protesters have set up a makeshift "information center" in one hallway, a sleeping area (quiet time begins at 11 most nights) with neatly folded blankets in another; and clusters of police officers, some from other parts of Wisconsin, stand watch.

Why is this being allowed?

- end of initial entry -

Sage McLaughlin writes:

You ask why the protestors' complete takeover of the capital building is being allowed. The answer, as near as I can tell, is two-fold: 1) The police are unionized, and will permit the protestors to do absolutely anything that falls short of physically assaulting a public official, and 2) Even if law enforcement wasn't in the tank for the protestors, there have been so many bused in from all over the country that the level of force required to disperse them--and the melodramatic treatment this would receive in the media--might shift the politics decisively against the Governor.

This is a very bad situation. None of us knows how it will work out in the end, but as usual, I'm not terribly optimistic.

Then, this:

Quote
"Baltimore is here with you"

"Solidarity from Texas"

"Michigan Supports WI Workers"

What are protesters from other states doing here? This corroborates what we've been hearing: union-supporting protesters are being bussed in from everywhere. Furthermore the Times adds this toward the end of the article:

As protests continued here, dozens of "solidarity events" in support of Wisconsin union members were being planned across the country over the next several days, including rallies on Monday in Las Vegas; Helena, Mont.; Carson City, Nev.; and Raleigh, N.C.

The photo is here.

These are being characterized as "peaceful" demonstrations.  Really?  The din made during the day by the "protesters" is not peaceful and their continual presence is actually an occupation.

tangentially:

Another piece of the answer to that other question.

Let us recall the spectacle of uniformed on-duty police officers in DC escorting a caravan of union thugs to the private residence of a bank executive. That was the incident where 500+ of them were in the front yard screaming through bull horns while the guy's young son was at home alone.

Let's have no illusions. The unionized police have loyalty to their union labor brethren before we the citizens.

I thought about this on the way into the office this morning.  Wisconsin must have many reciprocity agreements with Illionois.  Wisconsin is probably the number one short-haul vacation destination for Illinois.  Gov. Walker should call his counterpart in Illinois and ask him to dispatch his State Troopers to fetch his wayward democrats and remand them into Wisconsin's hands or risk higher costs of doing business in Wisconsin.  I bet Illinois would be glad to help out if faced with that choice!

Get 'em, drag their asses to the capitol, call the quorum and get it done!

Or, I'm with Pablo & Dan!
