Can you imagine the cajones it took to go down in that thing - especially after one entire crew drowned?!

I first learned about the Hunley watching an episode of "The Great Adventure" about 1962 . It was a program which depicted in dramatized form important episodes in American history . I was a young Civil War buff at the time so it was right up my alley . BTW , Jackie Cooper portrayed Lt. Dixon and George "Goober" Lindsey was one of the crewman .

Too bad a program like that just wouldn't fly today .
