Thanks, JF. As soon as I can get all the kids graduated and out of the house, I plan on buying an old truck (60's-70's) and wonder what kind of engine I want to put in it. I want something that's all mechanical (simple to work on) and no computer.

 Diesel/gas?

Probably start with a gas but I'd like a diesel that'll burn just about anything I throw at it. I'm sort of familiar with the Detroits since they have a bunch of 6-71's, 8-71's and 8-93's in use out here in the Gulf for fire pumps, stand by generators, crane power packs, etc. I didn't realize how adaptable they were, though. Thanks for the info!
