If Russian Power Stations are this Prone to "technical malfunctions"...these morons got issues!

Several of the commenters mention a transformer as source of explosion. Probably true. They do go up all the time under the right circumstances and the flash is essentially a welding arc on a very large scale. The small plume of smoke (not exactly a mushroom cloud) is also indicative of a minor issue rather than something catastrophic.
In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.
