CNN Kicks Roland Martin Off The Air
« on: February 09, 2012, 11:56:22 AM »
CNN has suspended Roland Martin indefinitely for tweets he wrote during the Super Bowl which were construed as homophobic.

Quote
In one tweet, Martin writes, "If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham's H&M underwear ad, smack the ish out of him, #superbowl." CNN stated, "Language that demeans is inconsistent with the values and culture of our organization, and is not tolerated."

Yet in November 2010, it was Martin who wrote, "Maybe someone should kick Sarah Palin," after Palin criticized First Lady Michelle Obama's anti-obesity campaign. Did CNN reprimand Martin in way, shape or form? What do you think?

Apparently language that demeans Sarah Palin (and conservatives in general) is not inconsistent with the values and culture at CNN and is not only tolerated but encouraged.

Oh fer Pete's sake.  Homophobic, really?!  All Martin was really saying was take away the guy's man-card.

As far as the double standard regarding the remark about Palin; situation normal, nothing new there.

It is informational to see which group is highest is the hierarchy of those who must be "protected"; Roland Martin is Black.

I wonder what Martin will have to do as penance for his transgression?

Maybe he can do a guest song and dance appearance on "Glee."
In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

All this talk about Roland Martin, and here I thought CNN had hired the fishing/outdoorsman TV guru as some kind of commentator.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."
