ZH making a big deal about this, but at present most of the reserves they have are about 1/3 (at best) what we have, they are busy adding more storage capacity, which I think is a better indicator of what the ChiCom's are up.  Your average Code Pink ZH Libertarian is extremely fearful this indicates an imminent smackdown on Iran and the beginning of the end of everything.  I think the ChiCom's are longer-term oriented than the knee-jerk ZH reactionaries that go apenuts on all things overseas, and this indicates to me they are serious about infrastructure and resources behind their entire String of Pearls military strategy.  Reading anything direct into ChiCom actions with respect to Iran is foolish and shortsighted IMO.

Yeah, China will not sacrifice long term goals for a short term win.
And creating or increasing an oil reserve would be a prudent thing
for any nation to do at this point in time.  Much more thoughtful
than relying on increased green energy.
