G, if you're done for now with your previous avatar, may we include in our smiley collection?  It's a good 'un.

Oh, yeah, if it's okay, please include it in your post so I can get the "img" code.

Yes, it's a great smiley.  I finally just grew tired of it and have decided to rotate around some other avatars that showcase my warm and fuzzy personality.  ::evil::

I don't have a CC but that list was insightful.  I am thinking of getting another 9mm for "home defense".  I currently have a Springfield 1911-A1 in 9mm and a quantity of ammo and I think that I should stay in caliber.  I don't want to have to stock multiple calibers.  I am also thinking of a longer range weapon.  Any suggestions out there??

Long range? I personally recommend something chambered for .308 Win (aka 7.62x51 NATO). The AR-10 clones, Springfield M1A, and various flavors of FAL are the most common semi-auto platforms for that caliber.  In bolt action your options are even broader, since practically every hunting rifle manufacturer makes something in .308.  I suggest this round because it is a "real" rifle round, and in particular because it is so thoroughly ubiquitous.

We've all had the debate before, in a SHTF environment I am thinking action will be closer in than further out, so "long range" probably really means nothing further out than intermediate, so pretty much every style of rifle should do that job.  S/A's have the advantage of more rounds and rapid fire, but in a rural environment zombies could be less numerous than in the city, so that might be a consideration.  But that is also one reason why a S/A of some sort makes sense, it's versitile enough to cover most bases.

Heck, I think I am just going to pick up one of these and some extra 20 rnd mags and toss it in the SUV as part of my JIC stash -
