Not really.  He's running as strictly Libertarian, not Conservative.  Conservatism engages the social in the culture; Libertarianism ignores the Bastiat rule of cultural issues.

Then he admits he is crashing the wrong party for purely selfish reasons.  Such an admission I could at least respect.

Last time I looked Gary Johnson was playing the libertarian.  Ron Paul was running as a newly minted social con.
