We ARE getting old. Holy schnikies. Rest in peace. You brought me moments of joy in childhood.

Davy Jones, singer in The Monkees, dead at 66

Davy Jones, the lead singer of the 1960s rock band The Monkees has died of an apparent heart attack in Florida, according to ABC News and various other media outlets. He was 66.

ABCNews.com says an official from the Martin County, Fla. medical examiner’s office confirmed  confirmed Jones' death.
TMZ.com also confirmed that Jones had died. He is survived by his wife, Jessica, and four daughters from previous marriages.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

I have had a "best of" collection of The Monkees in my mp3's for many years. He wasn't my favorite singer (Mickey Dolenz is classic) but he was okay. I don't know anything about his personal life but I never heard anything bad. So, sorry to hear this news. I guess we'll be hearing Daydream Believer for a while.

RIP Mr. Jones

In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

I thought their show was funny when it was on.  My SIL was a HUGE fan, saw them at the Minnesota State Fair...must have been early mid-90's.

RIP Davy.
