The Greatest Trick the Devil Ever Pulled . . . 1

Lent began yesterday and it is now that we recall Christ’s 40 day fast in the desert wherein He was tempted by satan.
I have zero engagement with the presidential election cycle and see nothing of it except the headlines. If you haven’t figured it out yet, the Republican primaries are pure theater designed to serve as a distraction for the intellectual caste one step above the American Idol and Ballroom Dancing crowd. It is all bread and circuses, just with 15-20 more I.Q. points. If you are falling for any of it, and are on “So-and-so’s team” as opposed to “Whosis’ team”, you should be embarrassed. Especially you Ron Paul people. Your faux-savior and Mitt Romney fall asleep in each other’s proverbial embrace with Paul looking up at Romney and whispering, “Make Rand VP and I’ll do . . . anything.” And then Mitt kisses him on the temple and they giggle and have a ticklefight. Yeah, that’s your savior of the Republic. Embarrassed much?

Anyway, I saw the headlines about people jumping all over Santorum for saying that satan was attacking the United States, with the implication being that no serious person actually believes in satan, and that’s all for the slackjawed idiots and dimwitted children or something. And yet, most of these people, if asked, would claim to be Christians. Apparently just not the “stupid kind” of Christian who “actually believes any of that sh*t in the Bible.” There I go using the language again, but that’s the only way I can get most of you people to comprehend anything. What I just said is EXACTLY what Christianity is today, and is exactly what the tyrant Obama is now explicitly enforcing – or attempting to enforce. You can claim to be a Christian just as long as you “don’t actually believe any of that sh*t.” If you actually believe any of it, you’re “insane”or “stupid” and will be ridiculed mercilessly until you are driven completely out of the public sphere; and now with ObamaCare, if you actually believe in Christianity and live that belief, then you will be breaking the law.

Is satan real? Of course. I did a quick keyword search and the word “satan” appears in the Bible 46 times, with all but 13 of those instances being in the New Testament, with 12 of those being quotes of Jesus Himself speaking. The word “devil” or “devils” appears 106 times, with all but four of those being in the New Testament. The word “serpent” references satan five times in the book of Genesis. Now I fully realize that this evidence means nothing to atheists. Fine, fine. That’s not who I’m talking about. I’m talking about MOST CHRISTIANS, or should I say, people who IDENTIFY as Christians, who scoff at the notions of satan, hell, sin, or even the concept of evil. These people have been taught by the Marxist infiltrators that there is no truth, only differing perspectives. There is no “sin”, only “deeply personal decisions of equal merit.” They have been taught that there is no such thing as evil, only “diversity” which is to be “tolerated” and now elevated and celebrated at all costs. Therefore, the notion of a being who is pure evil, hates humanity, and is active and afoot in the world, influencing people and events, is completely untenable for these people. Nevermind the 157 specific mentions of said entity and his army in the Bible, with almost 90% of those mentions being in the New Testament. Yeah, I guess Jesus must be a stupid idiot, too. Thank goodness we have the Jesuits and super-fun rockband church to save us from our superstitious redneck idiot of a Savior and His stupid “satan” talk.

Which brings us to Lent. Jesus went into the desert and fasted for 40 days, and was thrice tempted by satan. Interestingly, the three temptations match up exactly with Marxism, and really all totalitarian political systems. I’m lifting heavily from Fulton Sheen’s “Life of Christ” here, and recommend buying this book for your home library. Read Matthew chapter 4 to review the Temptation narrative.

Temptation number one from satan was telling Jesus to turn stones into bread. This is the Marxist ploy of winning the mob by giving them free stuff, and equating material abundance with salvation. Given what has happened economically over the last 50 years, and in particular the political mindset today of the government magically providing abundance for the people by blowing an enormous, unsustainable debt bubble that is going to destroy everything, can we not see the parallel?

The evil spirit was saying, “Start with the primacy of the economic! Forget about sin!” He still says this today in different words, “My Commissar goes into classrooms and asks children to pray to God for bread. And when their prayers are not answered, my Commissar feeds them. The Dictator gives bread; God does not, because there is no God, there is no soul; there is only the body, pleasure, sex, the animal, and when we die, that is the end.”
Life of Christ, page 69

This is exactly what Obama is setting up vis a vis the Church. He is counting on the cowardly, faithless bishops to not engage is civil disobedience (go to the Cross), but rather close and/or sell Catholic hospitals. Obama will then point to the Church and say, “See? God will not provide you with healthcare. But I will.” The Obama regime truly is a collective antichrist.

The second temptation of Christ by satan was to win the mob via pride, vanity and egomania. In the case of Christ, the temptation was to perform an actual public demonstration of His divinity so that no one would have any choice but know that He was God. In the case of Marxists, it is to con people into believing that they will work miracles, and that they are “god”. Uh, do I even have to write the rest of this section? Seriously. Greek columns. Receding oceans. Quoting now one Peggy Joseph:

” I'd never thought this day would ever happen. I won't have to worry 'bout putting gas in my car, I won't have to worry 'bout payin' my mortgage. You know, If I help him, he's gonna help me."
-Peggy Joseph, October 29, 2008

The truth that would answer this temptation was that faith in God must never contradict reason.
Life of Christ, page 73

Everything that the Obama regime says and does in the economic sphere is totally and completely contrary to reason, most particularly elementary mathematical reason. The government cannot spend more than it takes in and ever, ever reduce, much less eliminate debt. The Obama regime is a collective antichrist.

The third temptation of Christ by satan was the temptation to compromise and parley with evil. Satan told Jesus that he would give him the world, if Jesus would only bow down and serve him. Obama has offered to lift 100% of the financial burden of caring for the indigent sick off of the Church, if the Church will only bow down and declare the Marxist doctrine that all sex is purely animal by accepting and paying for contraception and sterilization, and all human life is animal by accepting and paying for abortion. The bishops today would do well to heed Fulton Sheen’s interpretation of Christ’s response to satan:

”I shall tell them that it profits them nothing to win the whole world if they lose their immortal souls. You may keep your kingdoms for the moment. Better the loss of all your kingdoms, of the whole world even, than the loss of a single soul! The kingdoms of the world must be elevated to the Kingdom of God; the Kingdom of God will not be dragged down to the kingdoms of the world. All I now want of this earth is a place large enough to erect a Cross; there I shall let you unfurl Me before the crossroads of your world!”
Life of Christ, pages 77-78.

The Obama regime is truly, truly a collective antichrist, and must be fought, denied and utterly rejected as such. Of this, have no doubt whatsoever: satan is real, and he is spending a hell of a lot of time in Washington D.C. these days.
