Nice prices. Here in southern PA, the price for regular is about 2.47 and the premium bonus charge of 50 cents on top of that.

We did however in the last ten years have increases in the state tax forcing the truckers to fill up in OH instead of PA so instead of making it more palatable our betters f**ked us regulars instead. If they wanted more revenue, why not just price it down and collect more at a lesser rate. Any of these assholes ever hear of the Laffer curve? f**k no, just continue off the cliff until nobody can afford the evil of hydrocarbon fuels.

Imagine where things would be if public lands were open to drilling. Ah, well...doesn't matter much...the price at the pump will force a cut back in production. Fracking is expensive and oil companies can't pay for it if they don't get a decent price at the pump. After production slows the price will climb right back up. Supply/demand.

But for now it's low and the low price is hurting the arabs and the russians so that's another good thing.
In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

On the Futures market it has been dropping lick a rock...

...and the lag in retail price will depend where on the LIFO line their distributors inventory is at.  It should be down too but not at this same extent.  (Unit of Measure should be 42k gal per contract)

Ann Barnhardt asserts that Citbank is using derivatives to funnel money to the Saudi's
of course in order to facilitate the economic attack on Russia.

It must be great to have banks as fully paid for cronies of the Federal government.

Who's really eating it right now are the airlines and industrial customers who locked in at the previously higher prices.  I'm certainly enjoying it at the pump, though I do think a lot of it is due to the Saudis trying to kill the domestic fracking business.

I don't ascribe an inordinate amount of scrupples to the Saud's...outside of base selfishness any other reasons are second tier at best.

While low prices will cap fracking activity, the temporary layoffs are the only immediate result, long term what did the Saud's get if this was their goal?  Do they think capped wells cannot be uncapped when prices start to rise again?  Do they think everyone will be bankrupt and nobody will be patient?  At some point their reserves deplete, and by continuing the glut they are hastening that day, what's their end game?  And this hurts Russia more than the US, a larger segment of their economy thrives on the oil and gas industry, the US consumes more, but if the Saud's are willing to pump we are willing to buy, and when that stops we uncap the wells and frack away.  The Saud's are sacrificing reserves today for market share tomorrow...but at some point demand will return (either by real economic growth or by the demands of war) and this exercise will be over.
