The current price of gas in my town is $3.89/gallon.
A side note on the price of gas when O'Bongo took office...it was artificially low because of the worldwide economic downturn...a supply and demand issue. The demand was down because of the worldwide recession at its peak and therefore the supply was huge, driving the price way down. A few months before BO took office the price was in the mid to low $2/gallon range...mid to low $3 range a few months before that. And, I do remember the phenomenon of posting stickers on gas pumps in the months leading up to the 2008 election protesting the high price of gasoline...they were directed at Senate Majority Leader Reid, Speaker of the House Pelosi and
Senator Obama. Here is a picture of one of those gas pump stickers:
Here's another:
Here is
a link to Doug Ross @Journal from July 2008 with printable copies of the gas pump stickers. So yeah, the price was high in the year leading up to the economic "crisis" of late 2008/early 2009.
And the price of gas was only below $2 for a short period of time in early 2009. So...setting the record straight.
This does not, however, take anything away from how high the price is today. It's ridiculously high because of BO's policies. That is indisputable. It's fair to say that Democrat policies are
always bad for gasoline prices. Remember the Carter years and gas lines.
