Winter blend and reduced demand because of the horsesh*t economy.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Bakken is #2, bigger than Alaska now and its been said that Eagle Ford may be bigger than Bakken. Saudi Arabia knows they have diminishing capacity, and the embargo on Iran.

The biggy is things are topsy turvy for them and they haven't figured out how to screw us in this scenario.
I have confidence that they will figure it out.

But...but...3 cents off per gallon if you use their card.  5 cents off at Holiday if you spend $50 at Cubs for $40 worth of groceries.  What deals!

 ::thinking::

My disdain for their antics is plentiful, but it was most eggregious in that to cash in your continuously devalued points (I think a Neo-Keynesian managed this atrocity) you have to go into their lair (aka the store) and use their notoriously slow and frustrating kiosk to print off your coupons (adding several minutes to your cartel agony) then que up to pay the cashier.

::cussing::  that noise!  No more, what a monumental waste of time and effort that BS is!   ::mooning::

According to Gas Buddy a few stores in my nape of the neck have premium dipping below $3!  See what crushing an economy into the dust can do for prices?!

Locally, the cartel doubled down on the $3.199 gouge mark while Costgo went all the way up to $2.939.

Some grist for the mill...

Quote
That early winter break you've been getting at the gasoline pump? It's beginning to show signs of cracking.

Gasoline prices remain below $3 a gallon in at least 50% or more outlets in 14 states. But the national average has crept up three cents to $3.30 a gallon the past week and 8 cents since hitting a 2012 low of $3.22 in mid-December.

It's likely to get worse in the coming weeks. Crude oil prices are up about $10 a gallon the past month, with benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude closing at $93.09 a barrel Friday, finishing the week up 2.5%.

"The celebration is over,'' says Patrick DeHaan, senior energy analyst at gasbuddy.com, which operates 250 North American price-tracking websites. DeHaan expects prices to rise another 35 cents a gallon through early April before peaking at about $3.95 a gallon. That's on par with 2012's $3.94 peak and but below 2008's all-time record $4.11.
In a doomsday scenario, hippies will be among the first casualties. So not everything about doomsday will be bad.

Yes, crush the industry with multiple layers of bureaucracy, impose mandates, and prevent new plant production..

Prices will naturally have to rise due to the man-made crunch...

It's the only way you can get uneconomical alternatives launched and subsidized up the wazoo...
