When is this movie being released?

So much for keen fashion sense. If i may be so bold to critique her clothing. First, those pants are...uh...too tight? Her choice of undergarment is a little awkward.

I'm only guessing , mind you , but it would appear that she might have a serious problem with "skid marks" !

You don't think....(gulp) she is hiding a dog in there.....

When is this movie being released?

Early June, I believe.

And one more "viral" video which is supposed to build interest in Prometheus...

And in case you are wondering what "TED" is...

It stands for Technology, Entertainment & Design and it's a liberal project to spread ideas via speeches published on the internet. www.ted.com

*yawn*

Call me when they have a TED speech about the dangers of marxism and socialism. I won't be holding my breath on that one.

That's Guy Pearce as Weyland. One of my faves, since "Memento".

The first review is out. The word is that the film is good but not great. Hard to live up to the expectations, I suppose.

Also a slide show.

About to watch this right now.

Mrs IDP and I decided to make it a double feature date night at the movies. Just finished with Snow White and the Huntsman. Eh.

It had its moments. It is an interesting idea - to take the Snow White story and try to make it into a dark fantasy/romance. But the execution was mediocre at best. I haven't seen the Twilight flicks, but this film had the twilight chick, and a romantic love triangle that never came to any fruition.

Skip it.

Now, Prometheus... Review later...

If you like sci-fi and awesome scenic graphics, and you like an interesting story that keeps you guessing and thinking, with little twists that reveal the story bits at a time, check this out. It's a goodie.

But if you want an "Alien" reboot, or even a direct prequel, don't blame me if you're disappointed. The relationship to the original movies is so thin as to be nearly non-existent until the final scene. You get your cryo-stasis, your alien planet, your corporate references, your android, and alien life evolving strangely. But beyond that, expect an almost entirely new film with brand new ideas.

It's as if they set about to create a brand new sci-fi idea, using what viewers know about the original movies as a backdrop for familiarity's sake. It's totally cool, but not at all what I was expecting.

That actually is even more appealing to me than an Alien reboot or prequel. I look forward to seeing it.

I think you'll like it a lot. My older boy saw the midnight showing of the opening night, and he and I have enjoyed discussing it today. It offers a great expansion on the ideas presented in the first.

Yeah I just got back from it.  I liked it.  I was expecting a bit more of a connection to the Alien storyline, even though I knew this film was exploring a different tangent. But, it was still good in its own right.  Brought up more questions than answers, vis-a-vis the Alien storyline.

I think Michael Fassbender perhaps put in the best android performance out of any of the films.

Just on a tangent, as I mentioned earlier, the Mrs and I took in two films on Friday night: "Snow White and the Huntsman", and "Prometheus". Both had Charlize Theron.

Beautiful woman, mkay? Stunning (in spite of the fact that her nostrils are asymmetrical). But her presence in both these films, at least IMHO, was throwaway. They could have plugged any movie star caliber actress into her roles - especially as the villain on SWATH. She just came across as uninteresting, flat, forced, and her supposed star power did not shine.

I compared that to her explosive performance in "Monster", where she gained a bunch of weight and played the hideously ugly serial truck-stop killer Aileen Wournos. I thought that was a notably fine acting performances, and that is the standard of her ability I had in my mind as I saw these two latest films in which she disappointed me.

So I looked up her filmography to see what else she's been in. Nothing spectacular. Of the ones I've seen, she was pretty good in "Devil's Advocate", but then, who doesn't look like the world's greatest across from Keanu Reeves. She was awfully cute in "Mighty Joe Young", but that wasn't a demanding role.

I think "Monster" was her high-bar - a fluke. I think her presence in any film is more due to her name and her pretty face than her ability to add acting dimension.
