Finally! Dick Cheney receives heart transplant

(1/1)

Pandora:

--- Quote ---Former GOP Vice President Dick Cheney is recovering from heart transplant surgery at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Northern Virginia, a spokeswoman said Saturday evening.

In 2010, Cheney had a left ventricular assist device implanted for treatment of end-stage heart failure. The former vice president has been on the cardiac transplant list for more than 20 months.

Though he and his family do not know the identity of the donor, they will be forever grateful for this lifesaving gift, the spokeswoman also said.

Cheney, who is in intensive care, expressed his thanks to the teams of doctors and other medical professionals at Inova Fairfax and at George Washington University Hospital, where he also has been treated, for their "continued outstanding care.

Thank God.   ::praying::

IronDioPriest:
I hope the donor was a Leftist. Is that wrong of me?

Yes, you're a dirty dog.  Repent.  Hang your head.  That's enough.   ::thumbsup::

On a more serious note, heart transplant recipients have been known to temporarily take on some of the characteristics of the donor.    ::whatgives::

Libertas:
If there is not rejection issues or other complications it should work out fine.

If there is any validity to the characteristic theory I would hope that he got the ticker of an athlete, just so we can be blessed to have Cheney around a bit longer!

LadyVirginia:
My uncle had a heart transplant 15 years ago (until a year ago he walked 2-3 hours a day when the weather was nice).  I hope Cheney is as fortunate.
