I'm a WalMart aficionado. To fully appreciate WalMart one must accept that
each store caters to the predominant culture of the neighborhood in which
it's located, therefore to fully enjoy one's shopping experience one must seek
out a WalMart located in a neighborhood of his peers.
I guess I don't want to go to Walmart that bad.
The shopping area I go to has a Walmart on one block and across the road is the Target. The Walmart has a grocery and almost every product is labeled in spanish (because I guess it's hard to know what it is from the PICTURE on the box). Who shops where is obvious when you go in either one. The Target also has a grocery and I don't think I've ever seen any products labeled in spanish.
That's one of the things that pisses me off about WalMart. The SuperCenter available to me also hires Spanish-speakers who barely speak English. Gives one an idea of the majority clientele.
On the other hand, the Tarzhay hires Indians (dot, not feather) who at least know English, but are not on speaking terms with a lot of our common products, like outdoor garbage cans.
