Santorum takes a break
« on: April 05, 2012, 07:41:05 AM »
IMO losing WI hurt more than those other states that are more leftist anyway.

The hopes of a resurgence and a possible brokered convention has all but vaporized.  And the typical GOP herd mentality is kicking in for Willard.  It sucks royally but the end is near.

I blame all those who have no courage.

They voted Romney because supporting him is easy.

I still think Bachmann and Perry bowed out too soon.  The "Anyone But Romney" football was getting passed back and forth, and one of them could have climbed back into the top tier.

Out of that crop I really wanted it to be Bachmann.

Yeah, me too.

It seems more that a coincidence that the more conservative candidates took their turns getting tossed under the GOP bus.  The stench of Ruling Class manipulation still lingers in my nostrils...but the candidates themselves were sometimes their own worst enemies.  It seemed to me that Bachmann was perhaps too scripted and Perry not prepared enough.

If people could have seen the Bachmann I know, I think the result could have been different.

Being used to disappointment sure doesn't make it suck any less!

You can say that again.  If Michelle would have fired every person that said you
have to do this (X) because "it's a national campaign" - stupid hair and nails too,
she would have been at least a contender  And if the (who knows what really
happened) Perry that showed up for any of the last debates appeared during the
early debates he too would have been in the ring.  Fate had a hand in this thing.

Yeah, this looks like the beginning of the end for Santorum.

Newt's group also filed for bankruptcy today.  It's probably over for him, too.

Oh well.  At least Romney's better than Obama.   ::eyes::

"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

Santorum's still pushing for an open convention or better.

The story on Texas (155 delegates) is that they (Texas Republican) were pushed
by the RNC to change traditional rules to allow proportional winners.  There are
dates and quibbles (lawyers) involved.  But Texas wants it the way its always
been,  winner take all
  • The committed dates were changed by the Fed courts
  • Texas wants to have old rules which is basically winner take all
    • Winner take all favors Santorum
    • Romney's minions have been on the phone to the Texas honcho threatening
to take TX to court and have all the delegates pulled unless they play ball
with Romney.  Honcho said it's just like dealing with the Fed. govt.*

    It might get good.

*The Fed-EPA has lost three cases in the last week to Texas and Texas drillers.

As much as I dislike Santorum, I've decided to vote for him.
Was going to vote for Paul but he is totally irrelevant now for my purposes.

Maybe Rick can win and slow the down the myth of Mitt's inevitability.
Open convention!!

It's crap like this that puts me right back into an intractable "I'll accept another 4 years of Obongo if it helps twist the knife in the GOP establishment" mood.

The GOP was basically declaring conservatism extinct after The Won's inauguration in early 2009. The dramatic change of fortunes that occurred in the 2010 midterms was entirely due to conservative grassroots activism. Yet we see that same Establishment swoop in to take all the rewards, while not forgetting to drop a nice turd in the punch bowl.

I guess the good news is that the whole damn system is on the verge of collapse anyway.

North Dakota [E]GOP Screws Over Santorum Evidently, the pro-Romney leadership of the North Dakota Republican Party rigged their state convention so that, despite the fact that Mitt Romney came in third in the March 6 caucuses, he got most of the delegates.  The Right Scoop has this video:

Reality Check North Dakota Caucus railroaded to give majority of delegates to Romney?

I believe that too.  And keep reminding myself of that.  God knows that many good people are praying for a solution to BO and all he's reigned down on us.

Yeah, you see crap like what is going on in ND all the time, the Establishment types are really slamming spurs into flesh and it is gut-check time for real conservatives, they have to ask themselves if they are willing to swallow their pride and stuff their principles and continue to allow the party to treat them like fricken lepers or send the party a hard message.

I can swing one day to the next between wanting to punish the GOP for its betrayal no matter the cost and indifferent acceptance of a inconsequential potential Romney presidency that merely postpones the inevitable (which when you get right down to it is kinda selfish, it's like choosing your own expiration date and taking the extra time for yourself at the risk of making things tougher on your loved ones down the line vs taking your poison now while you are strong enough to fight and before things can get much worse)...

Did I just define apathy?
