Baltimore, Md., Apr 6, 2012 / 04:09 am (CNA/EWTN News).- A month after the state of Maryland approved a bill to legalize “gay marriage,” local initiatives to block the legislation through a November referendum are fully underway.

“People are very passionate about this issue,” said Derek McCoy, executive director of the Maryland Marriage Alliance. “We are working hard to win this.”

McCoy told CNA on April 3 that the alliance has worked “feverishly” over the past few weeks to develop petition drives and train people to run them.

The alliance is leading a referendum campaign, joining with the Maryland Catholic Conference, the Maryland Family Alliance and other national and local groups of different political and religious backgrounds to defend the dignity of marriage.

There is a pretty strong group here in MN too, as it is in most states I am thinking.  Kinda sad in a way, having to expend resources of time and money to defend something that should never be under attack anyway.

But...

This is the country we live in now.

So support these efforts we must.  Or if you prefer, regarding our opponents - "resist them we much"!
We are now where The Founders were when they faced despotism.

When Democrats cannot swing things their way by hook or by crook legislatively they go Judge-Shopping!
