Man jumps on tracks to save toddler
« on: June 27, 2012, 02:32:55 PM »
Tragedy was averted at a New York City subway today after a heroic stranger rescued a one-year-old who was swept onto the tracks of an oncoming train by a gust of wind.

Quote
The boy’s mother had parked the stroller on the platform but forgot to put the brakes on before she turned away to look after three other children.

Can't tell you how many times I've seen parents who park a kid in a  stroller or a kid in a shopping cart at the back of the car while they put groceries or another kid into the passenger side of car. All I can think of is the one car that comes flying down the aisle and side swipes the car (and the kid) or the stroller or cart starts to roll.

Just glad someone saw the kid.

Yes, thank God the man had the presence of mind and the courage to rescue the baby.

Strollers make me nervous.  Baby carriages too.  The kid is in the conveyance stuck out in front; Mommy is behind, by necessity, pushing.  It wouldn't serve to have the kid on wheels behind the mother either because she can't keep a good eye on that arrangement, so I dunno ....

I favored a carrier on my back--always knew where the kid was...
