Hotels are no better.  The few times I've stayed in either, I've kicked their linens to the corner and asked for all freshly laundered ones or brought my own.

This is why, for me, the older I get, the bigger a pain in the ass it is to travel almost anywhere, nevermind the number of items I now need for a baseline of comfort.

Baseline items! Ha!  Was thinking about that the other day.  Back in college I had
a Norelco razor that came in a hard case. I would carry a week's worth of baseline
items in that thing, toothbrush, extra money (under the lining) etc.  I leave now,
I've got bags.

I can suspend my disbelief when I stay in a hotel.

The sheets and linens are clean and crisp, all surfaces have been sterilized, the mattress is not full of other people's skin cells or dried bodily fluids, and the bed and pillow have never been slept or drooled on by anyone but angelic children and supermodels.
