Where Is Gateway Pundit?
« on: April 24, 2012, 07:18:44 PM »
During my normal round of blogs this morning I found that Gateway Pundit was down. I just checked again...it's still down. "Right Network" which hosts Gateway Pundit is still there but if you click on the link for GP it comes up as "archive not found."

Anyone besides me seeing this?

Anyone have any idea what's up?

The Gateway Pundit Facebook page is up and running...maybe Hoft has gone to Facebook instead of the WWW.

If so, then that's the end of it for me.  I do not and will not "facebook".

Same here - won't do the Twitter thing either. And I do my level best to stay away from anything 'Google'.

Must have been a temporary thing. I just got on with no issue. Weisshaupt is right though - they get smacked around from time to time by DOS attacks.

I still get nothing. And I don't check it every day but I've never seen it go down. I'm sure it has...I just have never seen it.

I have no problem getting on to GWP. I wonder what's up?

If some are having trouble getting on and others aren't, maybe a router is down somewhere in the US that affects a certain part of the country or something?

I would agree with this if I wasn't able to access Right Network. But it is there and GP isn't.

Okay...I found it.

Now here is what I don't understand. Why has the web address for Gateway Pundit changed?

Gateway Pundit used to be hosted at Right Network. If you go to Right Network there is a tab at the top of the page labeled "Gateway Pundit" and if you click on it it shows the "Not Found" page. I have had GP bookmarked at this address for years and it has always worked. Until now.

The url which used to work for GP is   "http://gatewaypundit.rightnetwork.com/"

Now in order to get to GP the url is  "http://thegatewaypundit.com"

So...I have no idea what is going on. But GP IS still there. Just at a different address.

So...mystery not exactly solved but at least I can fix my bookmark to account for the new address.

EDIT: Actually (just checked my bookmarks more carefully) the url used to be "http://gatewaypundit.firstthings.com" and no, it doesn't work anymore.

My theory:

To  my recollection, gatewaypundit switched over from their "rightnetwork" domain some several months ago to "thegatewaypundit". If I had to guess, I would say that for those several months, your bookmark link to rightnetwork was being redirected to thegatewaypundit, and that you didn't notice it when it happened. You click your bookmark, and the website opens, so why bother to look in the address bar to see that the url was different than your bookmark link?

Further, if I had to guess, I would say that they determined some time yesterday that the redirect from rightnetwork was no longer necessary.
