I watched and listened to Romney's big speech tonight after the results came in from this evening's primaries.

As most of you should know I am not a Romney fan or advocate. But I have been resigned to his nomination for several weeks now. He is our nominee whether  we like it or not. Hard cheese for us who don't.

But...that aside, he did give a decent speech this evening. It was a better speech than any I have ever heard pass the lips of O'Bongo. It was almost everything that needed to be said about where we are (screwed) and where we want and deserve to be.

So...credit where credit is due. He gave a better than average speech. It bordered on (and I am actually cringing when I write this) "inspiring."

There were good themes: A better America begins tonight.

There were accurate portrayals of the president: "The last four years were the best that BO can do but it's not the best that America can do." and

It was forceful: "Tonight is the beginning of the end of the disappointments of the O'Bongo years."

It was near-Reaganesque: comparing how screwed we are now with where we can and will be.

It had its stupid and low points...him talking about introducing himself to the country and how he would talk about his wife and bore us (he really said that) with stories about his kids and grandkids. Seriously...no one cares about your family, buddy. And no one believes for a second that you are actually going to "listen" to individual Americans...does anyone believe that he listened to individual employees at any of his takeovers with Bain? I mean, really listened? And no one really needs to hear about his father's success story. Who really cares? We would much rather hear about how he's going to kick O'Bongo's ass and fix the mess he made.

He made the claim he needed to make: "I know how to lead us out of this stagnant O'Bongo economy and into a job creating recovery." Now he just needs to keep making that claim over and over again because President Downgrade clearly does not.

He defined O'Bongo's campaign: It would have nothing to do with his record because his record sucks. It would be pure distraction and subterfuge. He even even mocked the Greek columns.

He parodied and mocked Democrat themes of years gone by: "It's still about the economy and we aren't stupid."

He all but called O'Bongo a socialist by way of describing O'Bongo's vision for America's future.

He described his vision of America: "A free people pursuing happiness in their own unique ways create free enterprises that employ more and more Americans..."

He contrasted achievement that is celebrated with that which is attacked.

He attempted to steal the mantle of "fairness" from the Democrats...it remains to be seen whether or not he will be successful at it. He used the example of education (too many stuck in union dominated schools) and crony capitalism. He attacked private union leadership and the ridiculousness of public employees making out at the expense of the taxpayers. He finished with the unfairness of passing on massive debts to future generations.

He reminded us of where we've been...the greatest nation ever....and where we are now with millions out of work. And then indicted the O'Bongo admin as one with failed leadership and faulty vision.

Really...not a bad speech at all. It was a good contrast with President Zero. If he can just stay on message it's all he really needs to do because, unlike the Clinton years which were merely corrupt, immoral and an overall embarrassment, this admin has truly screwed the country over to a degree not seen before. Really, not even Carter was this bad.

So I grudgingly give the oaf credit for doing a passable job in tonight's speech. It remains to be seen if he can sustain that attitude all the way to November. But one other thing I will also give him credit for...he is not aping John McLoser. And that's a good thing.

Guess they won't have numbers actual until tomorrow.
Earlier, about 6 PM the CSPAN schedule had already written
about his speech in the past tense.

I'm going to take an optimistic tack here.

I'm going to be optimistic that:

1) The socialist will be defeated,

2) That Romney will not be a total squish,

3) That conservatives will increase their numbers in the House,

4) That the Democrats will lose control of the Senate,

5) That conservatives will force strict constructionists on any SCOTUS appointments,

6) That we will reverse our nation's course toward insolvency,

7) That we will repeal O'BongoCare if the SCOTUS does not overturn it first,

8) That we will eliminate czars,

9) That we will reign in the federal agencies that are currently running amok and,

10) That maybe, just maybe we will eliminate one or two agencies and actually reduce the size of the federal government.

But that's just me. Being optimistic.

I mean...wtf and why not? I personally believe that we, as free Americans, deserve that stuff.

EDIT: I forgot to add energy independence and throwing out the green jobs vomit to my wish list.

Yah, and he's on record as of late of advocating the "progressive" tax rate.

Look, trap; he's what it looks to be we're stuck with, okay; I ain't figuring he's saving us from a damn thing, he'll MAYBE slow the slide off the cliff.

In the meantime, what are we to do about the communist infiltration in all the bureaucracies, K-12 schools, colleges and universities, Leftist non-profits and, well, you friggin name the tentacles who are in frenzy mode for "situation normal".

Screw this fkin' noise.  I'm done with tap dancing on the goddamn minefield.

Well, no matter how you slice it or dice it, we are now just short of "officially" on the road to replacing the biggest dumbass to ever occupy the WH.

Anyone, yes even Mittens, would be an improvement over the dog eater in chief.

Even as big a weasel as Mittens is bound to be is an absolutely HUGE improvement over the existing idiot.

Taking into account all of Mitten's shortcomings he at least does not actively HATE America. That is reason enough to stand behind the doofus all by itself.

I've said the same myself.  Can we at least cobble that together from various threads, heh?

But I'm not doing the snoopydance.

Yep. I've said before that I desire deeply to know beyond doubt that the President loves the country. As unconservative as Bush was on fiscal and big-government matters, I knew he loved America deeply, and that means a lot to me. I never imagined the majority would elect someone who so deeply hates the country. I don't ever want to experience this sick feeling again after the f***stick is gone.
"A strict observance of the written laws is doubtless one of the high duties of a good citizen, but it is not the highest. The laws of necessity, of self-preservation, of saving our country when in danger, are of higher obligation. To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the end to the means."

I'll remain hopeful.

But I'm still worried that what will end up happening is:

Mittens wins, then completely botches everything by being squishy. The economy doesn't really improve and BAM! 2016 rolls around and the voters are out for blood. Next thing you know, Hitlery Clinton gets elected and finishes what Obama started - except she'd do it smart so she'd actually get away with it.

OR

Obama wins and we get more of the same and/or radical progressive supreme court appointments.

Either way it's a win-win for the enemies of America.

I really hope I'm wrong...

If I can have a little of what Trap gulped down to be that optimistic (even by choice!) I might be able to be optimistic (by choice!) on a couple of those items on his list.

Anyway, I'll not bore people with my fears, they are what they are.  Mitt gave a good speech, but campaigns are won or lost on more than speeches.  This is going to be a long, filthy, nasty and dirty campaign...at some point Mitt and/or his surrogates are going to have to unleash some unapologetic ass-kicking, heaps of scorn and ridicule and outright venom against the SCoaMF, or once again the Left will succeed in defining the grossly tilted boundaries.

I hate the POSOTUS so fricken bad I'd vote for a random drunk off the street if the election was today.

I hope Team Mitt is up to this challenge, thanks to the Left they start 50 yards behind the starting line, and there is a lot of ground to cover between now and November.

And conservative voters in the congressional and statewide races better be getting the best conservatives they can who are also highly motivated to kick Statist butt!  Control of Congress and the states might be the only thing staving off complete and utter disaster.

We shall see what everyone is made of this election cycle, I have no doubt of that.

You are being a bit unrealistic. O'Bongo is starting out in the hole because he has no record of positive accomplishments to run on. None. Zero. Zip. Nada. Plus a week ago no one knew that he ate dogs. Romney could be 1000 yards behind the starting line and it makes no difference at all. This guy is not Bill Clinton. The magic is gone. The country is seriously screwed and everyone knows instinctively that we need a different direction, different leadership. No advertising needed. No convincing needed. O'Bongo isn't even clever enough to pretend that he wants to do the right thing. Instead, he keeps doubling down on his already established stupidity...because his pride and vanity won't let him admit otherwise. The Republicans couldn't ask for a more vulnerable candidate.

All that may be true Trap, but what we also know is the entire Democrat-Media Complex seems to still be in the tank and carrying Stymie's tainted water, and we know that the Leftists agitators out there will be brewing up their voting fraud stew, we know that the unions and other Democrat front groups will be bombarding us with bullsh*t and we know that Romney will be out-spent and out advertised.  We know Romney and his people will get ambushed on every stinking show they go on.  If that isn't starting 50 yards behind the start line I'd like to know what is?

I hope mitt doesn't go squishy if he is elected....... But if he does, all I'm gonna ask of him, for the next few months, is make my life pleasurable by attacking Obama at every opportunity. The thinned skinned Obama won't react well.
